According to Garcia, he rates the 28-yer-old Thurman as the 4th or 5th best opponent he’s faced during his career.

Garcia wants to add Thurman’s scalp to his collection of scalps, and adding his WBA 147lb title will definitely help his career. Thurman would be the biggest name on Garcia’s resume next to his wins over Lucas Matthysse and Amir Khan. Those wins came a while ago, and Garcia hasn’t beaten a big name since his the Matthysse fight four years ago.

By Dan Ambrose: WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia says he’s going to attack WBA champion Keith Thurman’s weak spot on March 4 by going after his body and trying to hurt him. Thurman seems to have a weakness when it comes to taking body shots.

Garcia and his dad Angel Garcia are working on their game plan for their fight next month on Showtime Boxing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Garcia says he’s not just going to attack Thurman’s body. He’s going to be looking to land head shots as well. Whatever opening the 28-year-old Thurman presents to him, Garcia says he’s going to take advantage of it.

By Dan Ambrose: WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia’s father/trainer Angel Garcia says that he heard that WBA 147lb champion Keith “One Time” Thurman was in Las Vegas drinking and smoking the hookah. Garcia says Thurman drinks and smokes a lot. For that reason, Angel feels that Thurman won’t be beating Danny Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) in their fight on March 4 on Showtime Boxing on CBS at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Angel has been doing a lot of talking about Thurman while Danny has been mostly quiet in the run up to the fight. It appears that Angel is trying to get under Thurman’s skin to anger him and throw him off his game when he gets inside the ring next month.

By Joseph Hirsch: It’s getting to be a rarer and rare sight these days: two undefeated guys in their prime and in the top of the rankings, squaring off against each other in the boxing ring. After the disappointment of getting our collective hopes up for the Golovkin-Alvarez showdown that may or may not materialize in 2018, hardcore fans at least got to see a high-speed chess match between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward in 2016.

A similar matchup between two unbeatens at the top of the heap is slated for March 4th at Barclays between Keith “One Time” Thurman and Danny “Swift” Garcia. Like most people trying to figure the odds and the angles on this one, I have Thurman picked to win. Unlike a lot of people, though, I’m having trouble forgetting how many times Danny Garcia has been the B-side of boxing cards, and the underdog who over-performed.
