Ward wants to whip Froch a second time

froch81By Scott Gilfoid: Andre Ward smells blood after seeing IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch take a beating against George Groves last November. Ward saw how Froch was knocked flat on his backside in the 1st round, and how he rose to his feet on drunken legs that could barely carry him. Ward wants to get Froch in the ring now so that he can not only whip him, but put him out of his misery with a knockout.

Froch hasn’t revealed what his plans are for his next fight, but I wouldn’t expect that a fight with Ward is high on his list. You can probably add Groves’ name to that as well, because I can’t see Froch ever little the young Groves back in the ring with him after barely getting by him last November.

Froch: Andre Ward is difficult to work with

ward54By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) was in fine form in telling Sky Sports why he can’t fight WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s). Froch says he can’t fight Ward because he says he won’t come to the UK to fight him.

This would sound believable except for the fact that Ward told a nationwide U.S audience on HBO last May on the Froch vs. Mikkel Kessler II telecast that he’s open to traveling to the UK to fight Froch.

Ward: I’d like to knock Froch out next time

ward23By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) has no idea why IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) keeps mentioning his name as if he wants to fight him, but then makes demands that he knows Ward will never meet, such as telling him that the fight must take place in England.

Ward says the only interest he has in fighting Froch a second time is to shut his yapper by knocking him out.

Froch’s promoter still hasn’t contacted Andre Ward about a fight

ward434By Scott Gilfoid: Despite all the talk from IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) about being willing to face the talented Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) in the UK, there’s been absolutely no contact from Froch or his promoter with the 29-year-old Ward to try and schedule a fight between them.

In other words, Froch has done a lot of talking in mentioning Ward’s name but he hasn’t made the move to make the fight a reality.

Ward told fighthype.com “There hasn’t been one phone call made that I’m aware of to try and generally schedule a rematch. I don’t think the man wants to fight me. And I’m not going to be dictated to.”

Carl Froch willing to fight Ward in Vegas

froch323By Dominic Sauboorah: WBA and IBF Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’S) is willing to fight Ring Magazine champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) in Las Vegas some point next year. I think that’s fair enough, considering that financially it makes sense and it’d be good to see Froch get some top global exposure.

Carl Froch recently said to BBC Sports how he wanted one more fight before the Ward fight, which could possibly be a deciding bout with Mikkel Kessler or a domestic showdown with stable mate George Groves. Based on marketability the Kessler fight makes more sense and will likely be staged in American as it’ll be seen
as a neutral location.

Froch’s promoter: We’ll fight Ward when the time is right

froch1111By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s), has ruled out a fight between him and Andre Ward for near the end of year. Instead, Hearn says that they have different priorities in terms of opponents.

Hearn said to I Film London today “We’re not going to bow down to Andre Ward, saying here’s a pile of money…we’ll do that when the time is right…there maybe fights that take priority before that.”

So there it is. Hearn reveals his innermost thoughts about the Froch-Ward fight. I had a strong feeling it was going to be like this because Hearn has seemed highly interested in a third fight between Froch and Kessler.

Hearn giving Ward no choice for Froch fight – it’s either UK or nothing

ward63545By Scott Gilfoid: It looks like Carl Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn is giving the super middleweight divisions best fighter Andre Ward no choice in the matter of where he has to fight Froch if he wants to face him. Hearn is making it clear that if Ward wants to face Froch again, and I don’t know why he would, it will have to be in the UK or not at all.

Ward isn’t excited about fighting in the UK for obvious reasons. He saw what happened to fellow American Andre Dirrell in 2009 when he fought Froch in the UK and ended up on the receiving end up a highly controversial decision. Ward doesn’t want to put himself in the same situation where he dominated Froch for 12 rounds and ends up losing by a split decision.

Ward: Froch struggles when fighting outside of the UK

froch4534By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andr Ward says he has a pretty good idea why IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch is so determined to fight all of his fights in the UK. It’s because he was beaten twice when he left the UK to fight guys and he doesn’t want to have that happen again.

Ward said to thesun.co.uk “His Froch] record is 4-2 on the road and he’s undefeated in the UK so I know why he wants it here [in the UK]. Let’s talk about it if you’re serious or else just stop ringing my name up.”

Is Ward kidding? I doubt Froch and his promoter Eddie Hearn will stop mentioning Ward’s name.

Hearn: Carl Froch doesn’t need Andre Ward; people want Froch-Kessler 3

kessler4000By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBA/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) came out and said it in plain language that he’s not looking to put Froch in with Andre Ward in his next fight. Instead, Hearn is eyeing a third fight between Froch and Mikkel Kessler or possibly a fight against 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins. Of those two, Hearn seems more excited about a Froch-Kessler third fight because of fan interest.

Hearn said to I Film London “I said it before, Andre Ward is a fantastic fighter, but he needs Carl Froch; Carl Froch doesn’t need Andre Ward. He’s [Froch] got two of these little babies [Froch’s WBA & WBC titles].
