IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (29-0, 24 Ko’s) would seem like the ideal next fight for Ward, but he said yesterday that he wants to wait until Bute has finally proven himself by facing an A level fighter before he’ll waste time on him. Showtime will no doubt work hard in trying to convince Ward to the fight with Bute because this is the fight that they’ve been waiting for.

However, at least we have a date for their next Super Six tourney fight, as Dirrell-Ward will be facing off in what will almost guaranteed be a fight that will produce the eventual Super Six tournament winner on November 27th, the same date that the other Super Six tourney fight between Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch takes place in a separate location.

The WBC title was recently won by Kessler in his 12 round unanimous decision win over Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) in April.
