By Joel Nepomuceno: As I stated in my article before this one, one of the key criticisms of Manny Pacquiao is that he hasn’t fought anyone in their prime, or that his opponents have all been shot or weight drained. Critics continue to argue that Pacquaio is only great because he’s only fought weight drained fighters. They always seem to ask, “why is he insisting on demanding catch weights?”
By Roy Closa: Miguel Cotto is undisputedly a true welterweight while Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is a fast, versatile LWW. This fight is about power against speed. For Cotto, his bigger physique means power, more than anybody else that Pacquiao has fought before. Pacquiao has the hand speed and footwork advantage.
By Manuel Perez: In an interview with elnuevodia, WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto said that he could care less if he has to fight Manny Pacquiao at the 145 pound catch weight that he and his management team want him to fight. Saying “it does not matter if it is at 145 pounds. That was the weight that we said from the beginning and it’s my range. I will increase it by eight to ten pounds [by fight time].” Cotto also said that he was no impressed with Pacquiao’s recent fights, commenting “he [Pacquiao] has two arms and so do I.”
