By Nedu Obi: Teddy Atlas, once an assistant trainer (under Cus D’Amato) to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, has a feeling that if the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor boxing match comes to fruition, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion will bend the rules in his favor if he sees himself losing the fight.

“If you would ask me the question, Atlas said to espn.co.uk. “Why does – if McGregor really can’t win this fight standing up under those rules, and those would be the rules, then why would he take it? Because he would break the rules, he would come in there, he would break the rules, he would pin pin him, and then he would proclaim himself the king of the ring.”

By Nedu Obi: With rumors of a mega-boxing match between boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC game changer Conor McGregor spreading like wild fire around the media stratosphere, it was only a matter of time before the fact or fiction drama was put to bed, or earnestly admitted.

Better yet, someone had to man up and tell the masses what time it was – step forward retired former five-divisional boxing champ and pound-for-pound kingpin Mayweather.

If the Mayweather-McGregor fight doesn’t happen this year, then in early 2018, says McGregor. He says that it can’t be stopped.

UFC president Dana White says he doesn’t think the fight is going to happen. He also seems to be sending McGregor a warning about him taking the fight without permission. McGregor says he thinks he can take the fight due the Ali act. It should be interesting to see if the UFC can stop McGregor from going ahead and competing in a boxing fight with Mayweather.

Mayweather wants $100M guaranteed for McGregor fight

Image: Mayweather wants $100M guaranteed for McGregor fight

By Allan Fox: It appears that Floyd Mayweather’s asking price for his fights hasn’t decreased despite him being out of the ring for almost a year and a half since his last fight, as he wants $100 million to fight UFC star Conor McGregor. Mayweather says he’ll give McGregor $15 million plus a percentage of the pay-per-view money, but he wants $100 million for himself just to take the fight.

McGregor seems to want similar money as Mayweather. This all just talk, of course, because McGregor’s bosses at the UFC haven’t shown even a hint of interest of letting their star fight Mayweather – any other boxer – inside a boxing ring. It would be a disaster for McGregor, and it wouldn’t help the UFC for their top star to be seen getting humbled inside the boxing ring by Mayweather or someone else from the sport.

Image: Arum says Joseph Parker vs. Hughie Fury deal is close

by Scott Gilfoid: WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker’s co-promoter Bob Arum says he’s close to having a deal done for Parker’s first defense of his title against #2 WBO Hughie Fury for April 1 or 8 in New Zealand. Hughie, 22, hasn’t done much to deserve getting a title shot against Parker, and he’s done less to get ranked No.2 in the World Boxing Organization’s top 15 ranking. Of course, Hughie is the nephew of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Parker, 24, isn’t going to argue with the WBO ranking the light hitting 6’6” Hughie so highly, as it gives him the chance of making an easy first defense of his title without worrying too much about getting beaten.

Broner: McGregor would get KO’d in 1st round in boxing world

Image: Broner: McGregor would get KO’d in 1st round in boxing world

By Eric Baldwin: Former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) gives UFC fighter Conor McGregor no chance in the boxing world. Broner thinks McGregor would be knocked out in the 1st round if he were to fight in a boxing match. Likewise, Broner thinks that boxers wouldn’t last more than a round in in the MMA sport. if one of them made a move.

McGregor has been talking frequently about wanting to fight the retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. McGregor hasn’t been talking about wanting to fight any of the active fighters though, and that has some boxing fans feeling that he’s only mentioning Mayweather’s name to hitch a ride by getting attention from fans without actually fighting anyone inside the ring.

Errol Spence interested in Terence Crawford fight

Image: Errol Spence interested in Terence Crawford fight

By Dan Ambrose: Welterweight contender Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) says he’d be interested in fighting unbeaten light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (30-0, 21 KOs) when he moves up in weight to fight at 147.

Spence says he won’t move down to 140 to fight Crawford. He’s staying at welterweight to fight in that weight class. Spence has a lot of respect for the 29-year-old Crawford, because he thinks he has a lot of talent, and he likes the way that he stands in the pocket at times and is willing to trade power shots with his opponents.
