Broner: Carlos Molina is a punching bag with arms and legs

Broner and Molina(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) will be trying to look good this Saturday night in his tune-up/stay busy fight against Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Golden Boy Promotions and Broner’s adviser Al Haymon have backed him off of world class opposition following his one-sided 12 round decision loss to Marcos Maidana last December in order to get Broner back on the winning track. Molina doesn’t have the talent to compete with Broner, or at least he shouldn’t have the talent to compete with him.

Broner: I will be victorius and it will be in a spectacular way

ADRIEN BRONER, Former Three-Division World Champion

“This fight is huge for me. Everyone wants to see what Adrien Broner is going to do next after this devastating loss I took in the early part of my career. I know why everyone has their eyes glued to me.

“Floyd is going to do what he’s always done, stay on top and get a victory. Everyone one knows what I’m going to do in my comeback fight.

Broner with a lot to prove against Carlos Molina

broner544By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) will be putting his reputation on the line next month against Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) in a fight that Broner cannot afford to lose on May 3rd on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana fight card. A loss for Broner in this fight will be a huge blow to his career. At 24, it certainly won’t be over for Broner if he loses to Molina, but it’ll make things very difficult for Golden Boy Promotions to rebuild his career. They’re already trying to rebuild his career by matching him against the 5’5” Molina following Broner’s loss to Marcos Maidana last December.

Broner needs to win in a manner that makes fans forget about his loss to Maidana. This is what this fight is all about. Broner needs to win in such a decisive manner that fans will forget the loss to Maidana, and they’ll start jumping on board the Broner train again.

Adrien Broner talks about Molina fight

broner9991By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) revealed today in the media conference call that he expects one of the light welterweight titles to open up shortly. Broner didn’t say that he’ll go after the belt, but it seems very likely that he will. The title he’s talking about is the WBC 140lb belt held by WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia, who said recently that he plans on moving up in weight to the welterweight division. The only way that Garcia doesn’t take that move is if his adviser Al Haymon recommends that he stay at 140.

Broner has a tune-up fight against Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana fight card on May 3rd. It’ll give Broner a chance to be seen on the same card as the guy that just easily beat him last December in Maidana. Broner had talked about wanting to try and avenge the loss, but it looks like he may have changed his mind about the wisdom of attempting that.

Carlos Molina motivated by underdog status against Adrien Broner

khan45By Dan Ambrose: The ring rusty 5’5” Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) isn’t bothered that he’s perceived to be the underdog against Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) next month in their fight on May 3rd, as Molina says he’s motivated by being seen the guy who will be losing when they meet up at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Molina has been resting for the past year since his loss to Amir Khan in December of 2012.

Molina was stopped in the 10th round in that fight, and he’s been waiting for an important fight since that time. What’s surprising is that Golden Boy Promotions picked him out for such a big fight after all that time out of the ring. Normally you don’t see that kind of thing, but it kind of gives you a good indication of how far Broner has slipped for him to be facing a guy coming off of a year and half long layoff.

Carlos Molina: I have the power to beat Adrien Broner

khan45By Scott Gilfoid: Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) doesn’t see himself as the sacrificial lamb being brought in to be slaughtered by Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) on May 3rd like a lot of fans see him, Molina actually sees himself as having a good chance of beating Broner. He believes his power, such as it is, will be enough for him to beat Broner. Molina isn’t saying he’ll knock Broner out, but one gets the sense that’s what he’s hoping to do.

This is going to be funny watching the light-hitting Molina going after Broner on May 3rd. Man, if Broner looks horrible against this guy then he’s going to be in a deep hole with his career. If a light hitter like Molina can beat Broner or make him struggle to win, it’s going to be a bad sign for Broner. He’d pretty much have to go back down to the lightweight division if he didn’t want to get beaten up by the best light welterweights in the division like Lucas Matthysse or Danny Garcia. Heck, Molina isn’t even a contender at 140, and that makes it even worse for Broner if this guy beats him or goes life and death with him.

Broner: I had a minor setback [against Maidana], I’ll be back on May 3rd

broner235By Dan Ambrose: Former three division world champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) wants his fans to forget about his loss to Marcos Maidana from last year in December, and focus instead on his upcoming fight against Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) on May 3rd on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Maidana fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Broner would have been better off facing Amir Khan or at least a viable opponent for his next fight instead of Molina, who is one of Khan’s leftovers from 2012. The little 5’5” Molina was halted in the 10th round by Khan after taking a frightful beating, and Molina hasn’t been seen since. For that reason alone, Broner should have told his manager Al Haymon and/or Golden Boy Promotions to find him someone else.

Can’t Adrien Broner do better than Carlos Molina for May 3rd?

broner8583By Scott Gilfoid: Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be having Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) and Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) both on his May 3rd fight card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, but unfortunately both of them appear headed for disappointing fights that make it hardly worth having them on his career. Broner is said to be fighting Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s), and we’re talking the light welterweight version of Carlos Molina, not the IBF junior middleweight champion.

Khan’s opponent on the card is still being worked out, but Luis Collazo is the guy that Golden Boy Promotions are reportedly interested in matching against him. However, Collazo is a far more appealing opponent than Molina is for Broner. Molina hasn’t fought in over a year since his 10th round stoppage loss to Khan in 2012.

Canelo to fight next on July 26th, likely against Carlos Molina

canelo136(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Allan Fox: With Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s bitter experience at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. now behind him, Canelo is now back on the winning track after beating Alfredo Angulo last Saturday night by a 10th round stoppage in his first pay-per-view fight on Showtime where he was the main attraction.

Canelo would like to face the Sergio Martinez – Miguel Cotto winner, but neither of them will be available for Canelo’s next scheduled fight on July 26th. Judging by the way that Canelo gave WBA interim light middleweight champion Erislandy Lara the bum’s rush at the post-fight press conference when he had the audacity to ask him for a fight, Canelo likely won’t be fighting him again. In fact, Canelo flat out told him “you have to wait.”

Carlos Molina vs. Jermall Charlo added to Canelo-Angulo PPV undercard

molina3By Dan Ambrose: There’s been a change to the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo undercard on Showtime pay-per-view on March 8th. The Jorge Linares vs. Nihito Arakawa fight won’t be on the PPV portion of the broadcast, according to Dan Rafael.

The fight will now be on regular Showtime before the PPV portion of the broadcast starts. In place of the Linares-Arakawa fight, Golden Boy has added the Carlos Molina (22-5-2, 6 KO’s) vs. Jermall Charlo (17-0, 13 KO’s) to the PPV section of the card.
