Would Haye have been able to take the kind of punishment that Briggs did against Vitali?

By William Mackay: While I was watching Shannon Briggs (51-6-1, 45 KO’s) slowly get his face rearranged by World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s) on Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany, I couldn’t help wonder how much punishment that WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) would have been able to endure before Haye was either flattened or had his trainer/manager Adam Booth throw in the white towel of surrender in the corner. Briggs, 38, took some enormous right hands during the fight and it was almost sickening to watch after awhile.

Boytsov explains why he’s not participating in IBF tournament

By Matt Stein: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov (27-0, 22 KO’s) won’t be taking part in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) four fighter tournament to pick the mandatory challenger for IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Boytsov, 24, was one of the hoped contenders that would be taking part in the tourney and he would have had an excellent chance of winning the tournament, which included fighters like Alexander Dimtrenko, Jean Marc Mormeck, and Jonathon Banks. Eddie Chambers, who took part in the previous IBF heavyweight tournament two years ago, is likely to step in for Boytsov to get another shot at Klitschko. Chambers was dominated by Klitschko in a 12th round TKO loss in March 2010. Chambers was badly knocked out and hasn’t fought since then.

The backside Worship of Mayweather and Pacquiao

By Scott Brown: In my interest to follow boxing, learn as much as I can, see upcoming events, and share opinions I have been drawn to boxing websites. I enjoy reading the articles and sharing a logical opinion. That can’t be said of some individuals who clamor to these sites while clinching the manhood of many boxers.

Oscar De La Hoya measured against all-time

By Sam Singh: Following my recent article on measuring Joe Calzaghe against all time (available at: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/10/joe-calzaghe-measured-against-all-time), I feel compelled as an avid boxing spectator to review the career of Oscar De La Hoya, and, in doing so, voice my firm support for his achievements.

Ultimate Super Six – The Light-Welterweights

Image: Ultimate Super Six - The Light-WelterweightsBy Shaun Campbell: Although the current Super-middleweight Super Six Tournament has all but fallen apart with half it’s original cast dropping out, the basic idea of the competition did impress me. So although I am not a writer who usually considers hypothetical match ups, it got me thinking about who would be my ultimate super-six fighter to go at it in a tournament throughout the weight classes. And I decided to start of with my favourite weight class, the Light-Welterweights. These fighters from recent era’s are all included due to the fact I think they would give great entertainment, even though some of them may not have the expected record of a ultimate fighter (such as Micky Ward). Please leave your opinions.

Kessler says his injured eye isn’t improving – News

Image: Kessler says his injured eye isn't improving - NewsBy Matt Stein: Former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) is still having problems with his injured right eye. Kessler, 31, dropped out of the Super Six tournament recently due to his complaints of not being able to see well out of his right eye, which he injured in his first Super Six tournament bout a year ago against American Andre Ward in November 2009. In an article at Spn.dk, Kessler says “It is still the same. There is no improvement yet. I don’t spare. I do not train hard. I am not in doubt that it will be better. The only question is, when it will be.” Kessler, 31, injured his right eye in his fight with Andre Ward on November 21st last year in his first fight in the Super Six tournament.

The Super Six tourney made Dirrell a star

Image: The Super Six tourney made Dirrell a starBy Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) may no longer be in the Super Six tournament, but he’s already been made a worldwide star from his two fights against Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham. While it was disappointing the way that Dirrell had to leave the tournament because of the cheap shot that Abraham landed while Dirrell was on the canvas in their fight, Dirrell still has a lot to be proud about and a lot to look forward to once he’s healed from his suspected neurological problems.

How good would Dirrell be if he had Mayweather’s brain?

By Dan Ambrose: Can you imagine you how good of a fighter Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) would be if he had Floyd Mayweather’s brain inside of his own body. Dirrell has amazing hand speed, good power and excellent size for a super middleweight. The only thing that seems to be missing is composure under fire. Dirrell seems to go to pieces at times when under heavy pressure. Dirrell showed fear in fights against Curtis Stevens, Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham. He won’t two of those fights, but he really stank up the joint in the Froch and Stevens fights.
