Tyson Fury battles Christian Hammer on 2/28 in London, UK

fury777By Scott Gilfoid: #3 IBF, #4 WBO, #12 WBC heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs) will be taking a stay busy fight on February 28th against German based #6 WBO Christian Hammer (17-3, 10 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Hammer is a weak puncher with limited size at 6’2″. In other words, he’s no threat to beating Fury.

Hammer, 27, is technically ranked in the top 15 given his ranking by the World Boxing Organization. However, none of the other sanctioning bodies has him ranked in their top 15, and it’s pretty easy to see why. He’s very slow, easy to hit, and he’s got an inflated resume filled with power puff opposition.

Fury: I want Stiverne-Wilder fight if I don’t get Klitschko

fury5667By Scott Gilfoid: In what has to be seen as a bluff on his part, Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs) says he’ll be keeping his eye on the January 17th fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and unbeaten American Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) because he’d be interested in fighting the winner of the fight if he can’t get a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury, 26, is the WBO mandatory challenger to Wladimir’s WBO strap after Fury beat Derek Chisora in a rematch last November. That means that there’s no chance that Wladimir can’t get around fighting Fury other than vacating his WBO title, which he obviously isn’t going to do.

Fury doubts Wladimir will face him

fury63By Scott Gilfoid: Some would say that Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs) had an free ride in only having to beat Dereck Chisora in order to earn a shot at fighting IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko at some point in 2015.

Fury could have had it much more difficult in having to face dangerous fighters like Deontay Wilder, Bryant Jennings, Alexander Povetkin, Andy Ruiz, Carlos Takam or Kubrat Pulev. Instead, Fury only had to beat a guy that basically faced no one in the last two years since he was annihilated by David Haye in 2012.

The year that was for Tyson Fury

fury6By Matt H: The stoppage defeat of Derek Chisora meant that Tyson Fury ends the year as British Heavyweight Champion, European Heavyweight Champion and more importantly mandatory challenger for Wladimir Klitschko’s WBO World Title.

Fury ended the year in a good place, unexpectedly since the year started in annoying fashion, with another cancellation against David Haye.  This had an affect on Fury  threatening retirement and he clearly showed his frustration in a number of interviews.

Tyson Fury’s trainer sees him giving Wladimir the toughest fight of his career

fury55By Scott Gilfoid: Peter Fury, the trainer for unbeaten contender Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs), believes that the 6’9” Fury could wind up giving IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (63-3, 53 KOs) the toughest fight of his career next summer when the two giant heavyweights face each other.

Peter thinks that Fury’s mobility, youth and toughness will result in Wladimir struggling badly against him.

Joshua thinks he can beat Fury and Chisora

joshua999By Scott Gilfoid: After beating a handful of weak opponents since he turned pro last year, heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua (10-0, 10 KOs) reportedly believes he’d beat Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury if he could get a fight against either of them.

Joshua’s wins over the likes of Michael Sprott, Denis Bakhtov, Konstantin Airich and Matt Skelton has Joshua feeling good about himself.

Tyson Fury and the Heavyweight Division

fury5555By Lukasz Clemans: When I first saw Tyson Fury fight 5 years ago I was not a fan at all. I believed that his height could cause some lower level domestic fighters some trouble and he may even one day become a European Champion based on his decent amateur background and his young age. I couldn’t imagine him being a true world contender at any stage of his career and would be very surprised that 5 years later he would be still undefeated after 23 fights. However Tyson Fury has definitely changed my mind in the past couple of years and I am now a big fan, despite the fact that his competition can still be considered to be lacking in elite-level fighters.

Last Saturday Fury beat Derek Chisora (20-5, 13Kos) via a dominating yet rather boring 10 round TKO as most of you will know. Yes Tyson had already beaten Chisora a few years ago by a unanimous decision but this Chisora was a far fitter, more focused fighter than he was in the previous match-up and was a man who had gained great experience fighting at a very high level since their last fight, regardless that he had lost every time he truly stepped up in level.

Nelson thinks Fury can beat Wilder and Stiverne

fury9173By Scott Gilfoid: Sky Sports commentator Johnny Nelson believes that #4 WBO Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs) has the talent to beat WBC champion Bermane Stiverne and unbeaten knockout artist Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs).

Nelson doesn’t, however, think that the 6’9” Fury can beat IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, who Fury will be facing at some point in 2015. Nelson still believes that the 6’6” Wladimir has too much talent for Fury to deal with at this point.
