Weights: David Price 250, Tony Thompson 259

price123By Scott Gilfoid: American heavyweight Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) weighed in today at a pudgy looking 259 lbs for his fight against once highly hyped British heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13KO’s) for their scheduled 12 round rematch at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK. Price weighed in at 250 lbs, which is pretty close to what he weighed last time he fought Thompson last February in Liverpool.

Price was knocked out in 2 rounds by Thompson in that fight, and Price attributes the loss to being overconfident. I’m not sure I buy that excuse given that I’ve already seen Price get hurt by big punchers in the amateur ranks in Bermane Stiverne and Roberto Cammarelle.

Tony Thompson: I’m going to bring the young lion [Price] down on Saturday

price444By Scott Gilfoid: American heavyweight Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) sees himself as a tough hyena about to take down another young lion when he faces the UK’s David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) this Saturday night in their rematch at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Thompson sees a lot of the same weakness in the tall 6’8” Price that allowed him to pick him off from the herd last February in knocking him out in the 2nd round.

Thompson said to Fightnews “David is a young lion but I’m the hyena. I’m the killer.”

I see this fight going down pretty much just like the last one did in February with Price pouncing on Thompson from the first round like a lion would against a hyena messing with the pack.

Tony Thompson looking to finish off David Price on Saturday

price43By Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday we could be seeing British heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) rendered irrelevant in terms of world level boxing if 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) obliterates him again like he did last February in beating by a 2nd round knockout.

Thompson and Price will be fighting once again at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, United Kingdom, and once again Price will have the hometown advantage; not that it’ll help him if Thompson can land another one of his beautiful right hooks to the ear area like last time.

Price, 6’8”, has reportedly working himself to the bone in training for the fight. He even had Lennox Lewis helping out.

David Price faces Tony Thompson this Saturday, July 6th in rematch in Liverpool

price#2By Scott Gilfoid: The once highly hyped 29-year-old British heavyweight prospect David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) has lost a lot of his cache with boxing fans since getting massacred by the 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) last February.

Rather than moving on and realizing that there are some chin issues that may keep at the domestic level, Price has foolishly decided to risk his career in facing Thompson in an immediate with everything on the line for the 6’8” Brit.

The rematch will take place this Saturday, July 6th in Price’s home city of Liverpool, UK. In other words, the loser has the hometown advantage again despite having been eradicated by Thompson.

David Price vows not to make the same mistake against Tony Thompson

price46By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) has worked on his game for the past several months to iron out the mistakes that he made last time he fought 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s), and he’s convinced that he won’t make the same mistake again when he faces Thompson in less than two weeks on July 6th at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Price said to Sky Sports Ringside “I have worked a lot on tactics and I am confident that I won’t make the same mistake twice, and that will get the job done and move on, but I think I can look good doing it.”

Price thinks his KO loss to Tony Thompson has made him a better fighter

price#2By Scott Gilfoid: Last February, heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) was blasted out in two rounds by 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) in Liverpool, England. The 6’8” Price wasn’t supposed to lose the fight, yet he did and it was a disappointing loss for the heavily hyped Price because his followers had pegged him as a future world champion.

Future world champions like Price aren’t supposed to be knocked out by aging heavyweights like Tony Thompson.

Price is now saying that the loss has made him a better fighter somehow. I’m not sure how, but that’s what Price is saying. At any rate, Price and Thompson will be fighting each other next month on July 6th at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Price: Lennox has taken me to another level in training for Thompson rematch

price46By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) has been working under the guidance of former heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis in this training camp to get ready for a rematch against 41-year-old Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) on July 6th at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Price was knocked out by the 6’5” Thompson last February, and he wants to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Whether Lennox Lewis can help Price beat Thompson this time is questionable.

Price is going to have to be able to take some shots from Thompson if he wants to win. Last time Price couldn’t take it and was stroked out. That was Price’s best opponent in the pros by far, and he was easily beaten.

Lennox: David Price has to get meaner for Tony Thompson

price#2By Scott Gilfoid: Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis is giving British heavyweight David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) a hand in getting ready for his July 6th rematch against 41-year-old American heavyweight Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Lewis thinks Price needs to get meaner for the rematch so that he can come out top this time. Last time they fought, Thompson surprisingly knocked Price out in the 2nd round last February in front of Price’s own British fans in Liverpool.

Thompson vs. Price II: Tony ready to score another KO

By Scott Gilfoid: Last February 41-year-old heavyweight contender Tony Thompson (37-3, 25 KO’s) blasted out Britain’s David Price (15-1, 13 KO’s) in two easy rounds in Liverpool, UK.

Instead of Price and his promoter Frank Maloney getting a clue that it might not be the best idea to tangle with the 6’5” Thompson again, they’ve set up a rematch for July 6th, and once again in Price’s home city of Liverpool, UK.
