It’ll be the 27-year-old Crawford’s first fight in the light welterweight division, as he’s moving up from lightweight where he holds the WBO 135lb title at this time.

Crawford wants to get bigger fights in the light welterweight division. As of now there still isn’t a venue for the fight, but it could take place in Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

Algieri-Crawford negotiations not going smoothly

algieri444By Allan Fox: Former WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) is reportedly asking for too much money for his fight against WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs), according to Steve Kim.

The Crawford vs. Algieri fight will be taking place on March 21st at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is one of the few places where Crawford could headline a fight other than in his hometown in Omaha, Nebraska.

algieri5By Dan Ambrose: #1 WBO light welterweight contender Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) could be facing Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) for the vacant WBO 140lb title on April 18th in a fight that is possible for Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

Crawford, 27, is moving up in weight from the lightweight division where he currently holds the WBO lightweight title. He wants to campaign now as a light welterweight, and his promoter Bob Arum is looking to get him an immediate title shot.

Terence Crawford moving to 140, fighting on 4/18

crawford8888By Scott Gilfoid: WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) will be moving up to the 140 pound division for his next fight on 4/18 in Omaha, Nebraska.

The possible opponent for his first fight in this weight class as Thomas Dulorme, according to Fightnews. Crawford’s co-manager Brian McIntyre is interested in matching him against Lucas Matthysse, Chris Algieri and Mauricio Herrera, although it’s highly unlikely we’ll see Crawford face any of those guys in his first fight in the light welterweight division.

After only two successful defences of his WBO lightweight title against Yuriorkis Gamboa and Raymundo Beltran it has been suggested he may step up into the 140lb division. Next fight

It is difficult to predict if Crawford will defend his title or move up for his next fight. The WBO title is currently vacant in the light welterweight division and Crawford has been told he would be the number 1 contender at 140 if he decides to take the step up. He has already admitted that he will step up at some point because the money at 135lbs is unlikely to be good enough nor is the profile of fights.
