By Sean Ness: Boxing is a sport that intrigues me. It gets the juices flowing and lights a fire in my belly. I find myself throwing punches at fresh air and even shouting at my TV when the rest of my family are trying to get to sleep. Every single ill thought and life’s problems absolutely leave my head. I am wholeheartedly happy and this morning (UK time) was no different.
I once again settled in and got ready for a roller coaster of action packed boxing. There was no alcohol involved just me, a coke and the sound of boxing from my TV filling my living room.

By Dan Ambrose: Former WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) will be in the ring tonight in a fight for the vacant WBO light welterweight title against #5 WBO contender Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) on HBO Championship Boxing at the University of Texas, in Arlington, Texas, USA.
By Dan Ambrose: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is saying that the winner of this Saturday’s two fights between former WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) vs. Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) and Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs) vs. Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17 KOs) could face each other. Both fights will be televised on HBO Championship Boxing as a split site double-header this Saturday night.
Crawford and Dulorme will be fighting for the vacant WBO 140 pound title at the University of Texas, in Arlington, Texas, USA. The Matthysse-Provodnikov fight will be taking place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, in Verona, New York, USA. Both fights will be 12 rounds.
There’s been a bit of controversy surrounding the news that Crawford-Dulorme will be fighting for the vacant WBO 140 pound title because the World Boxing Organization immediately elevated Crawford to the No.1 spot in the WBO’s 140 pound rankings recently after Crawford vacated his WBO 135 pound title. Crawford didn’t have to face anyone at 140 in order to pick up rank to get into position to fight for the vacant WBO light welterweight title.
By Niall Kaye: It is hard to envisage boxing without the presence of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Similarly, many feared for the state of the sport following Muhammad Ali’s eventual retirement in 1981, but the sport survived, with the introduction of Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson going some way to quenching the indomitable void left by Ali.
Boxing, like any sport, is cyclical with new talents constantly emerging, whose paths eventually converge like Mayweather and Pacquiao’s belatedly have. These two maestro’s void will be difficult to fill for the rising stars of today, but the most likely candidates under 30 years old to do so are listed below:
By Gav Duthie: It feels like my entire boxing existence as a fan has been leading towards this showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao. It took so long to happen we thought it never would. But what happens after? Whatever the result on May 2nd boxing will be in a new era which will not be lead by Mayweather or Pacquiao.
If we look a couple of years down the line with all the other potential fights that can happen what could our new p4p list be. Take a look at mine and share your own thoughts about who could be in this list. As for now its all just a guess.
ARLINGTON, TX (March 5, 2015) — Undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) lightweight champion and the Boxing Writers Association of America’s (BWAA) Fighter of the Year TERENCE “Bud” CRAWFORD is movin’ on up — to the junior welterweight division — where he will take on THOMAS “Thunder” DULORME, the No. 2-world-rated contender, for the vacant WBO World Junior Welterweight title. Crawford vs. Dulorme will take place Saturday, April 18, at College Park Center located on the campus of the University of Texas Arlington in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The world championship fight will be televised as part of a split site doubleheader live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Organization is giving WBO lightweight champ Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) a huge gift in letting him fight the badly flawed #3 WBC, #5 WBO Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KOs) on April; 18th for the vacant WBO light welterweight title at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center outside Dallas, Texas.
It’s a huge gift, because Crawford should have to face Lucas Matthysse or Ruslan Provodnikov for the vacant WBO title, not Dulorme. You can make an argument that the Matthysse-Provodnikov fight should be for the vacant WBO 140lb title, with the winner then facing former WBO champion Chris Algieri.
By Dan Ambrose: Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs) will be fighting on HBO against an opponent still to be determined on March 21st. It’ll be the 27-year-old Crawford’s first fight in the light welterweight division, as he’s moving up from lightweight where he holds the WBO 135lb title at this time.
Crawford wants to get bigger fights in the light welterweight division. As of now there still isn’t a venue for the fight, but it could take place in Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
By Allan Fox: Former WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) is reportedly asking for too much money for his fight against WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KOs), according to Steve Kim.
The Crawford vs. Algieri fight will be taking place on March 21st at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is one of the few places where Crawford could headline a fight other than in his hometown in Omaha, Nebraska.
