Pacquiao vs. Crawford possible for April 9th

1-MAYPAC WEIGH IN-TRAPPFOTOS-3699By Chris Williams: With Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs)) deciding not to reveal who his next opponent is tonight, as his promoter Bob Arum had previously said he would reveal, there’s talk that Pacquiao will be facing WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) next rather than WBO 147lb champion Tim Bradley.

There were reports that Pacquiao had made up his mind that he was going to be fighting Bradley in a third fight on April 9th next year at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. After that fight, Pacquiao would then retire from the sport to focus on politics in the Philippines.

However, according to ESPN, Arum won’t be making that announcement because Pacquiao is said to be not ready to name his next opponent for his April 9th fight.

Arum: No decision from Pacquiao yet

pac137By Chris Williams: Filipino star Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) was supposed to make a decision on Friday about who his next fight would be for his final fight next April, but the date came and went without Pacquiao letting his promoter Bob Arum know who the fighter will be.

Of course, there has been fact-less rumors that the opponent will be Tim Bradley, but that’s not been confirmed by Pacquiao and it appears it was just idle speculation from one site. With Pacquiao not naming the guy he’ll be fighting in April, it suggests that he’s probably waiting on Floyd Mayweather Jr. to give him a call for a rematch.

Pacquiao to decide next opponent tomorrow

Manny PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: According to Manny Pacquiao’s long time promoter Bob Arum, he’ll be giving him the word on Friday who his next opponent will be on April 9th for his fight on HBO pay-per-view.

The fight is supposed to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the choices are three fighters picked by Arum for Pacquiao to supposedly select from. Those fighters are Terence Crawford, Tim Bradley and Amir Khan. Arum has already given Pacquiao a big hint about who he doesn’t want him to pick when he said recently that he hopes he won’t choose Khan.

Will Pacquiao help Arum by fighting Crawford next?

Manny PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: It goes without saying that former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) would be doing his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank a huge, huge favor if he elects to fight his stable fighter Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) for his Pacquiao’s final fight of his career on April 9th in 2016.

Instead of Pacquiao going for a bigger money fight that would help his own pocketbook in retirement, he could help out his 83-year-old promoter Arum by taking what would likely be the smaller money fight against Crawford. I know what the average person would do if they were in a similar situation and had the option of making more money by fighting someone like Saul “Canelo” Alvarez or Amir Khan rather than taking what would likely mean lesser money by fighting Crawford.

Kellerman: Pacquiao shouldn’t fight Crawford

1-LR_MAYPAC-TRAPPFOTOS-FINAL PRESSER-9963By Dan Ambrose: HBO analyst Max Kellerman thinks Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) should steer clear of a fight against WBO 140lb champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) for his final fight of his career next year in April. Kellerman sees Crawford as too mean, and too difficult of a fight for Pacquiao for his last fight of his career.

While Kellerman acknowledges that Pacquiao is faster, stronger, more athletic and more experienced than Crawford, he still sees Crawford as a bad option due to his meanness.

Terence Crawford ready to beat Pacquiao

crawford5By Chris Williams: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) is waiting for the word about whether he’s going to get the fight against Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) for April 9th next year.

Crawford’s manager Brian Macintyre is looking forward to the fight because he feels that his guy will definitely beat the soon to be 37-year-old Pacquiao. 83-year-old Bob Arum, who promotes both Pacquiao and Crawford, refuses to say who he wants Pacquiao to fight for his April bout, but with the way that Arum’s face lights up each time he mentioned Crawford’s name, you have to wonder if that’s the guy he’s hoping Pacquiao will select.

Crawford not sure if Golovkin is for real

Boxing: Golovkin vs LemieuxBy Tim Fletcher: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford says he doesn’t know if IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) is the real deal or not at this point, because he’s not been fighting guys that are hitting him back and trying to win.

Crawford notes that Golovkin has punching power, and he thinks he’s got good boxing skills. However, Crawford doesn’t know if he’s a legitimate talent or not because he’s been fighting too many guys that he was able to steamroll over without any problems.

Crawford: Tim Bradley beats Canelo

bradley000By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley’s 9th round knockout win over a bloated and out of shape 170lb Brandon Rios (33-3-1, 24 KOs) last Saturday night has convinced WBO 140lb champion Terence Crawford that Bradley would beat former WBA/WBC 154lb champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez if he winds up as his next opponent he faces in 2016.

Bradley’s promoter Bob Arum has already mentioned that the 25-year-old Canelo is a possibility for Bradley if Canelo defeats WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) in their fight on November 21st this month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
