_DSC0160(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Allan Fox: Tonight’s fight between welterweights Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) and Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) is expected to be a competitive one that many boxing fans see as a 50-50 affair that could go either way when they battle for supremacy at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Not only is this an almost even fight in terms of the match-up, but both fighters will be getting almost the same amount of money in regards to their purses for the fight.

Broner will be making $1.35 million compared to $1 million for Porter. There are rumors floating around that the 25-year-old Broner is near broke.

Shawn’s coming to knock Adrien’s head off, says Ken Porter

_MG_9798(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) really disrespected Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) by refusing to shake his hand at Friday’s weigh-in. As the two were finishing up there posing for pictures for the media, Porter reached over to Broner to shake his hand, and Broner turned around and ignored his hand.

While this may not seem like big deal to some, it’s something that will likely be used for motivation for Porter when he gets inside the ring with the 25-year-old Broner tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shawn Porter already rehydrated to 153lbs

_MG_9789(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) By Dan Ambrose: After making the catch-weight of 144 pounds earlier on Friday, Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) is reportedly already rehydrated to 153 pounds, and he still have the entire night and all of tomorrow afternoon to continue to rehydrate for his fight against former three division world champion Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s obviously not good news for Broner, because it means his catch-weight handicap, which was designed to weaken Porter enough to make him vulnerable, has failed. Porter could wind up rehydrated to 160+ by the time the fight starts tomorrow night.

Broner-Porter: No Saturday morning weigh-in

_DSC9586(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: In a sign that Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) is having problems with the weight for his fight against Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 kOs), the secondary weigh-in for Saturday has been canceled. There was supposed to be a rehydration limit of 154 pounds that both fighters had to make for their secondary weigh-in on Saturday morning, but the weigh-in has been thrown out, according to Dan Rafael.

You can read that any way you want, but since the rehydration limit was coming from Broner’s side, it suggests that he’s having problems making the weight. There’s been talk that Broner was weighing in the mid-150 to right at 160 as of Wednesday.

Broner: I’ll be taking over boxing after Mayweather is gone

_DSC9682(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) feels that he’ll be taking over the sport of boxing after Floyd Mayweather Jr. finishes up his next fight on September 12th. Broner says his performance on Saturday night against former Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) will be a showcase of him revealing to the fans what they’ll be getting from him in the future once Mayweather walks away.

It’s still up in the air whether Mayweather will be retiring after his September 12th fight or not. He’s saying that he’ll be done after his September fight, yet he’s also saying that he wants to fight his 50th fight, which means that he would be coming back next year to finish out his career.

Porter’s dad concerned Broner won’t make secondary weigh-in

_DSC9562(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) is reportedly on target to make the 144 pound catch-weight today for his weigh-in against A-side fighter Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) for their initial weigh-in for their fight on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, Porter’s dad/trainer Ken Porter has some concerns that the 25-year-old Broner will be a no show for the secondary weigh-in on Saturday morning.

This is for the 10 pound rehydration clause weight of 154 pounds that Broner wanted in the contract for the fight. With Broner still looking very, very heavy as of Thursday, there’s some who believe that Broner could somehow make the initial weigh-in catch-weight limit of 144 pounds, but then either blow off the secondary weigh-in by now showing up, or showing up and rehydrating well above the 154 pound limit.

Broner still looking very heavy, will he come in overweight?

_DSC8672(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: With one day to go before Friday’s weigh-in, former three division world champion Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) is looking very chubby for someone who has to get down to 144 pounds for his catch-weight against former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) this Saturday night on June 20th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Broner, 25, looks like he’s still in the 150s right now, which makes you wonder what’s going to happen if he fails to make weight. Given that Broner is the A-side for the fight, it probably won’t be a big deal if he comes in over the 144lb catch-weight, but it would be funny if Porter makes weight and Broner is the one who misses it.

Adrien Broner will be a pay-per-view star, says Mayweather

_DSC8612(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: At this point in Adrien Broner’s career it’s not looking like he’s ever going to become a pay-per-view attraction like his mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr., or like Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto.

Even before Broner’s loss to Marcos Maidana in 2013, Broner’s fights lacked the domination a superb talent that you see from pay-per-view headliner. Floyd Mayweather Jr. believes that the 25-year-old Broner will make it to the next level and become a PPV star in the future, but he thinks it’s going to take some time for him to achieve that status.
