Mosley-Mora: Does this fight belong on PPV?

Image: Mosley-Mora: Does this fight belong on PPV?By Chris Williams: Earlier today I found that the September 18th fight between Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora will be a pay per view bout, which will go for around $50. I’ve always been a big fan of Mosley but he is 38-years-old now and has lost two out of his last four fights, including his last bout. Is this really an occasion to be selling his fight for $50 bucks? I don’t understand that. How can a fight involving Mosley, who just finished getting blanked by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a one-sided 12 round decision loss, be the main event in a PPV card?

Mosley vs. Mora: Will Sergio retire Shane?

Image: Mosley vs. Mora: Will Sergio retire Shane?By Dan Amrbose: Former three division champion Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KO’s) will be looking to rebound from a recent lopsided 12 round unanimous decision defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. next month when he faces former World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight champion Sergio Mora (22-1-1, 6 KO’s) on September 18th, at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. You have to wonder what the 38-year-old Mosley was thinking when he decided to fight Mora, a junior middleweight with a three inch height advantage over Mosley.

Image: Mosley vs. Mora on September 18th – NewsBy Jim Dower: Recently defeated Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KO’s) will be making his ring return on September 18th against former World Boxing Council light middleweight champion Sergio Mora (22-1-1, 6 KO’s), according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. The fight will be taking place at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Exciting unbeaten Saul Alvarez will also be fighting on the same card against a still to be determined opponent. It’s curious that the 38-year-old Mosley has selected Mora to fight, because Mosley hasn’t always looked good when facing bigger light middleweight fighters.

Sergio Mora very interested in Mosley bout

By Jim Dower: Former welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KO’s) is rumored to be possibly fighting former WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Mora (22-1-1, 6 KO’s) next on September 18th. Mora, 29, is very interested as the prospects of fighting the 38-year-old Mosley, saying in an interview by Greg Leon of Boxingtalk.com, It’s [Mosley-Mora bout] definitely a serious talk. I met with Richard Schaefer [the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions] last week and they proposed that fight to me, and I told them I would love to fight Shane Mosley in our hometown. ..The rumors are true; we are working on that fight.”

Mosley could fight Sergio Martinez or Mora next – News

Image: Mosley could fight Sergio Martinez or Mora next - NewsBy Dan Ambrose: 38-year-old Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KO’s) could be fighting either WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (45-2-2, 24 KOs) next or former World Boxing Council light middleweight champion Sergio Mora (22-1-1, 6 KO’s) , according to Fighthype.com. Personally, I think that’s a crummy idea for Mosley to do, and I can see him getting badly schooled by both of these fighters. I can kind of see why Mosley might want to fight them.

After all, Miguel Cotto recently revived his sagging career by beating the feather-fisted WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman on June 5th at Yankee Stadium. Mosley might think that he can duplicate that kind of win and work wonders on his own career.

Hopkins vs. Jones undercard: Mora-Edouard, Juarez-Litzau and Sillakh-Ornelas

Image: Hopkins vs. Jones undercard: Mora-Edouard, Juarez-Litzau and Sillakh-OrnelasBy Chris Williams: According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, there are a number of possible fights that Golden Boy Promotions and Square Ring are looking to put together for the undercard of the April 3rd fight between Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins. As of now, the following fights could wind up on the undercard: former World Boxing Council light middleweight champion Sergio Mora vs. Daniel Edouard, Jason Litzau vs. Rocky Juarez at lightweight, and light heavyweight prospect Ismayl Sillakh vs. Enrique Ornelas. Frankly, these fights as a whole aren’t enough for me to want to plunk down $49.95 to see the fight card.

Pavlik vs. Mora: Why Does Kelly Keep Going After Bad Fights?

pavlik6452551By Jim Slattengren: WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs) is quickly turning out to be one of the worst middleweight champions we’ve had in some time as he’s about to fight his third dull opponent in Sergio Mora (21-1-1, 5 KOs) since winning the titles in September 2007 with a 7th round stoppage victory over Jermain Taylor.

Pavlik-Mora: Why Is This PPV?

pavlik645259By Dave Lahr: WBC/WBO middleweight Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs) will be making his third defense of his titles against Sergio Mora (21-1-1, 5 KOs) on June 27th, at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Rather than show the fight on regular Showtime or ESPN, the fight will be a PPV bout, meaning that boxing fans will have to pay big bucks to see this fight. Frankly, I don’t see Pavlik as being a PPV worthy star at this point in his career, especially now that he’s been soundly beaten by Bernard Hopkins in October 2008. That loss took a lot of wind out of the sails of Pavlik’s career, which at that point was just building up a little excitement.
