Sturm wants unification bout with Zbik
By Jason Kim: WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2-1, 15 KO’s) is looking to get a unfication bout against WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (30-0, 10 KO’s) for his next fight. This would be an all German fight, as both Zbik and Sturm fight out of Germany. However, Zbik, 28, is considered a paper champion by many boxing fans because of the way that Zbik was given the WBC title after the World Boxing Council stripped WBA champion Sergio Martinez, gave him the title as Emeritus champion, and then handed the title to Zbik without a fight.

If Chavez defeats Zbik, which is likely because is a very average fighter that the WBC bestowed on him their title without him having to fight for it, then Chavez Jr. could be facing Sergio Martinez after that, says his promoter Bob Arum.

Bob Arum, the promoter for Chavez Jr., recently signed a deal with CBS/Showtime to put the May 7th bout between Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley on CBS/Showtime. There is now talk of Arum putting the Chavez-Zbik fight on CBS as well.

Lyell took a lot of punishment but refused to quit or get knocked off his feet in the one-sided fight. But what was so shocking about the fight was how much bigger Chavez Jr. looked compared to Lyell.

Chavez, who only fought once in 2010, is looking for a fight in the early part of 2011. He pulled out of a bout in December against Pawel Wolak complaining of the flu. This wasn’t the first time that Chavez had become ill before a fight.
