Saul Alvarez vs. Lovemore N’dou this Saturday

By Dan Ambrose: In what will likely be an ugly mismatch, unbeaten WBC Silver light middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) makes his second defense of his obscure title against 39-year-old Lovemore N’dou (48-11-2, 31 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the Estadio Beto Avila, Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico. Alvarez may or may not pan out in the future. He’s got good power but rotten defensive skills and what appears to be a hand eye problem when it comes to picking off punches.

Alvarez vs. N’dou: Saul matched up against another older fighter

By Jason Kim: World Boxing Council Silver light middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) will be matched up against another older fighter when he takes on 39-year-old Lovemore N’dou (48-11-2, 31 KO’s) on December 4th at the Estadio Beto Avila, Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico. Alvarez, 20, defeated 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir last September in Alvarez’s first defense of his newly created WBC Silver junior middleweight title. It was hoped that Alvarez would take on a fighter a little younger than 39 for his next fight, but it looks like another 39-year-old has been dug up for Alvarez to look good against.

Matthew Hatton interested in facing Saul Alvarez in early 2011, if Matthew can’t get title shot

By Sean McDaniel: European Boxing Union (EBU) welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (40-4-2, 15 KO’s) says he might be interested in facing unbeaten welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) in early 2011 if Hatton can’t get a title shot against WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko. Hatton, 29, had been hoping to get a title shot against Senchenko recently but was ignored by him. Hatton instead will be defending his EBU title against unbeaten Roberto Belge (25-0-1, 4 KO’s) next month on November 26th at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, Lancashire.

Saul Alvarez vs. Lovemore N’dou on December 4th

By Chris Williams: Well, it looks like Golden Boy Promotions is going to be matching unbeaten welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) up with another 39-year-old fighter. In this case, it will be former International Boxing Federation light welterweight champion Lovemore N’dou (48-11-2, 31 KO’s), who is clearly on the downside of his career and perhaps six or seven years past his best. The fight will be taking place at Xcaret, Quintana Roo, Mexico, and will be scheduled for 12 rounds.

Saul Alvarez could be facing Matthew Hatton on December 4th

Image: Saul Alvarez could be facing Matthew Hatton on December 4thBy Matt Stein: Undefeated welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) may have another easy mark for his next fight. According to the Record, the 20-year-old Alvarez will be facing European Boxing Union (EBU) welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (40-4-2, 15 KO’s) on December 4th, in Cancun, Mexico. Given how wide open Alvarez looked on defense in his last fight with 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir last weekend, I had a feeling that his promoter, Golden Promotions, would continue to match Alvarez soft to keep him from getting beaten.

Saul Alvarez to fight on December 4th

Image: Saul Alvarez to fight on December 4thBy Matt Stein: Fresh off his 6th round knockout victory over 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir on Saturday night, 20-year-old unbeaten welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) will reportedly be back in the ring quickly, as his promotional company Golden Boy Promotions wants Alvarez to fight on December 4th in Mexico against a still to be determined opponent. GBP also signed Alvarez to a multi-year contract today, which may or may not be a smart thing because we still don’t know whether Alvarez will be a future star or not.

Alvarez stops Baldomir, but looks flawed

Image: Alvarez stops Baldomir, but looks flawedBy Matt Stein: For those people who see welterweight/junior welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) as the next big thing in boxing, I think they shouldn’t get their hopes up too high, because Alvarez has ton of holes in his game at this point in his career. Alvarez, 20, proved that he can beat a 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir (45-13-6, 14 KO’s) on Saturday night, stopping him in the 6th round on the undercard of the Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora bout at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California.

Saul Alvarez vs. Carlos Baldomir on Saturday night

Image: Saul Alvarez vs. Carlos Baldomir on Saturday nightBy Jim Dower: Unbeaten junior middleweight contender Saul Alvarez (33-0-1, 25 KO’s) faces the biggest test of his career on Saturday night against former World Boxing Council welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir (45-12-6, 14 KO’s) in a 12 round bout for the WBC Silver junior middleweight title on the undercard of the Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora bout at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. This is a big leap up for the young 20-year-old Alvarez to be taking, because he looked pretty beatable two fights ago beating Jose Miguel Cotto, older 33-year-old brother of WBA light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.
