There has been bad blood between them; both are huge house names in Mexico and always draw big TV ratings in the major Mexican networks. Even Canelo has challenged Chavez Jr. to fight on live television broadcast requesting him to set the purse he wants to sign the contract to fight him. In a near future this bout could be arranged, but for now they were supposed to battle for the audience preference of the vast Mexicans boxing fans.

Chavez Jr. inherited not only his father last name; he also inherited his great chin which is his major boxing asset. Although he will never be as skilled as his father was, he has managed himself to build a good record. Chavez Jr. was supposed to face Pawel Wolak who replaces Alfonso Gomez (injured), and might have been a more difficult opponent than Gomez and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had been able to defeat Chavez Jr. via close decision.

Junior has improved a lot with his new trainer Freddie Roach but he couldn’t finish John Duddy although he hurt him several times, which give me the impression that Chavez Jr. isn’t ready for top fighters yet. Chavez Jr. isn’t an outstanding boxer or fighter, he is an average skilled fighter that certainly can improve, but he has been mislead in the past couple of years, he isn’t taking advantage of the big opportunities that he has had; now he pulled out of his fight with Wolak due to sickness. It is time for him to decide if he really wants to be a prizefighter.

The twenty years old Saul “Canelo” Alvarez won’t have an easy night as the one he had against former champion Carlos Baldomir who was practically retired and is way past his prime. He will meet a thirty nine years old veteran and current IBO welterweight champion Lovemore N´dou whom recently defeat younger prospect Bongani Mwelase who is a former WBF (Foundation) welterweight champion and WBF (Federation) light middleweight champion.

Lovemore could teach one o two things to this promising prospect and could even out point him in the early rounds. Alvarez need to improve his defense and stop relying on his power to win fights, he better start the first round very focus otherwise he could be surprised as he was in his fight against veteran lightweight Jose Miguel Cotto who rocked him hard in the first round and was close to finish him off in the very beginning of their fight. I´ll pick Alvarez to stop N´dou in the late rounds but I don’t think this will be an easy fight for him.
