By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) and former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s) have agreed to a September 11th fight, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. The contract hasn’t yet been signed but it’s looking good. The fight will be held at the Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente says that the contract for Klitschko-Peter should be signed by this Thursday. Klitschko was supposed to be fighting number #1 ranked IBF heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KO’s).

Will Wladimir Klitschko stop Samuel Peter this time?
By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) has a new opponent for his next fight on September 11th when he faces an old nemesis former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s) at the Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. This was supposed to have been Alexander Povetkin’s fight, but he failed to sign the contract for the bout and also failed to show up for their first press conference to promote the fight. Wladimir and promotional company K2 complained to the IBF, who then allowed Klitschko to go with the number IBF #2 contender Peter.
Arum says Samuel Peter prepared to fight Wladimir Klitschko
By Eric Thomas: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum wants his fighter, former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s), to fight IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) if the IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KO’s) doesn’t take the fight with Klitschko next, according to Fight News. Arum plans on making it so that Klitschko will have to fight Peter next if Povetkin doesn’t face Klitschko. The reason why Povetkin wouldn’t be facing Wladimir next would be if WBA heavyweight champion David Haye paid Povetkin a step aside fee, so that Haye could fight Wladimir before Povetkin.
Would Haye be a champion if he faced Arreola, Povetkin, Solis and Peter before challenging for the title?
By Scott Gilfoid: When I look at the easy path that WBA heavyweight champion David Haye took in order to get a shot at the title and then look at which of the heavyweight champions Haye chose to fight, it makes me wonder about him. After moving up from the cruiserweight division in 2008, Haye has faced Monte Barrett, Nikolay Valuev and John Ruiz. Haye, instead of taking on the most dangerous of the heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, Haye chose to fight the slow moving WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev.
Samuel Peter has to wait for Povetkin-Klitschko before he gets his shot
By Jim Dower: With his 2nd round knockout win over Nagy Aguilera in the International Boxing Federation heavyweight title eliminator bout on March 12th, the 29-year-old Peter has assured himself a fight against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KO’s) in the future. The only thing that Peter has to do now is wait for Klitschko to get finished with his fight this Saturday night against American challenger Eddie Chambers, and then after that Klitschko has one more fight, a bout against Alexander Povetkin, the International Boxing Federation mandatory challenger who has been waiting two long years to get a shot against Wladimir.
Peter destroys Aguilera, Marquez loses, Henry, Peterson and Benavidez all win
By Jim Dower: Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (34-3, 27 KO’s) defeated contender Nagy Aguilera (15-3, 10 KO’s) in a 2nd round TKO tonight in a IBF heavyweight eliminator match at the Gaylord Hotel, in Grapevine, Texas. Peter, came into the fight at 237, his lowest weight for him since 2001, knocked Aguilera down with a crushing right hand in the 2nd round.
Peter vs. Aguilera in March IBF title eliminator bout
By Jason Kim: Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (33-3, 26 KO’s) will be facing young 23-year-old prospect Nagy Aguilera (15-2, 10 KO’s) on March 12th in an IBF heavyweight title eliminator in Dallas, Texas. The strange part about this fight is that Russian Alexander Povetkin had already become the mandatory challenger for IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko by virtue of his wins over Chris Byrd and Eddie Chambers in the IBF heavyweight title elimination tournament which was held in late 2007 and concluded in January 2008.
Peter wants another shot at the Klitschko brothers
By Jason Kim: Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (33-3, 26 KO’s) wants another title shot against the Klitschko brothers, according to Fight News. Peter, 29, has won three consecutive fights over journeyman caliber opposition since his back to back losses to Vital Klitschko and Eddie Chambers. Despite the losses, Peter is currently ranked at number #3 in the IBF and #10 in the WBC, easily within striking distance of both Klitschko brothers. Even better, Peter has lost 25 pounds since his 10 round majority decision loss to Chambers in March 2009.
Weigh-in: Pavlik 160, Espino 159, Peter 240, Brown 363
By Chris Williams: At today’s weigh-in, World Boxing Council/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KO’s) weighed in at 160 for tomorrow night’s bout against number #3 ranked WBC contender Migue Angel Espino (20-2-1, 9 KO’s) at the Beeghly Center, in Youngstown, Ohio. Most people assume that the fight will be a gross mismatch, pointing to Espino’s lack of experience at the upper level and his two losses when he did attempt to fight 1st tier fighters. Still, the WBC has gone ahead and ranked Espino at number #3, even though Espino’s wins have come against 2nd tier opposition.
Peter Stops Bellamy; Alvarez, Soto, Nongqayi, Solis, Sosa all Victorious
By Jim Dower: Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (32-3, 25 KO’s) stopped 44-year-old journeyman Ron Bellamy (14-9-4, 9 KO’s) in the 2nd round last night in a scheduled eight round bout at the Plaza de Toros, in Cancun, Mexico. Peter, 29, fighting at a very slow and measured pace, dropped Bellamy with a big left hook to the head in the 1st round.
