By William Mackay: In a nice little match involving two fringe heavyweight contenders, British heavyweight champion Derek Chisora (13-0, 8 KO’s) will be taking on Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sam Sexton (13-1, 6 KO’s) in Frank Warren’s Magnificent Seven card at the LG Arena, Birmingham, West Midlands. Chisora and Sexton have fought previously two years ago in a fight in which Chisora won by a 6th round stoppage in June 2008. Sexton, 26, has improved since then and won his last six fights with two of them coming against Irish cab driver Martin Rogan in 2009.

Mitchell vs. Katsidis, Sexton vs. Williams to be shown on Sky
By William Mackay: Top number #1 World Boxing Organization lightweight contender Kevin Mitchell (31-0, 23 KO’s) and WBO lightweight interim champion (26-2, 21 KO’s) will be facing each other on May 15th, at Upton Park, in London, England. The fight will be shown on Sky Sports HD, giving both fighters some badly needed visibility for their clash. The card is loaded with prospects James DeGale, Frankie Gavin and Billy Joe Saunders, all hoping to impress and keep their forward momentum in their early careers. The match between Mitchell and Katsidis is the real interest here, as it’s actually a competitive one and not merely a mismatch.

Will the last one leaving turn the lights out please?
By Daniel Cann: It seems professional heavyweight boxing in Britain is going through a critical phase at the moment. When the American monopoly over the World titles has been usurped by two Ukrainian brothers and a giant Russian you would think that there is no better time than now for other nations to capitalize. The only problem seems to be the depth of talent from these isles.
