Paul Smith has a good chance of beating Arthur Abraham, says Bellew

smith67By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC Silver light heavyweight strap holder Tony Bellew is giving #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) a good chance of pulling off what would be a huge upset this Saturday night in his title challenge against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) in their fight at the Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Bellew points to the experience of the 31-year-old Smith as the reason why he’ll do well against Abraham.

Bellew thinks that Smith has a ton of experience, even though he’s actually only fought two recognizable fighters in George Groves and James DeGale. As for the rest of the guys Smith has fought, they’ve been domestic level opposition.

Paul Smith vs. Arthur Abraham this Saturday, September 27th in Germany

abraham4By Scott Gilfoid: Next Saturday night, #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) will be challenging WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) for his WBO 168 pound title at the Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

This is one of those modern day Rocky stories for the soon to be 32-year-old Smith, because he’s stepping way, way out of his class in taking on the hard hitting Abraham.

It doesn’t matter that Abraham has been badly exposed in the past in losses to talents like Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell, he still packs a punch with either hand and he’s got the perfect guy in front of him to score a quick knockout on Saturday in the form of Smith.

Paul Smith vs. Arthur Abraham: Does the Cream always come to the top?

smith343By Conor Farrelly: Paul Smith Junior (35-3) challenges WBO Super-middleweight Arthur Abraham (40-4) on the 27th of September in Kiel Germany.

This is a fight which has raised certain eyebrows within boxing circles. The question of whether Paul Smith Junior is worthy of this opportunity is not an area which I will develop upon.

Any boxer who decides to enter a boxing ring will always have my respect. Michael Watson and Gerald McClellan are examples of the devastating consequences which come about from entering the ring.

abraham4(Photo credit: Sauerland Events) By Scott Gilfoid: #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) is hoping to pull off a huge upset this month in would could be a once in a lifetime title shot against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) on September 27th at the Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Smith wants to beat Abraham and then bring the strap back to the UK with him as a trophy from battle, but it’s going to be awfully tough for him to do that given the huge step up he’s making in this fight.

Eddie Hearn thinks Paul Smith is catching Abraham at the perfect time

abraham5(Photo Credit: Sebastian Hagler) By Scott Gilfoid: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) will be defending his title in a voluntary defense against #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) next month on September 27th in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Abraham, 34, is looking and fighting like someone at least 10 years younger than his chronological age. If you look at him at age 24 and compare that to how he looks and fights now, it’s nearly impossible to see any difference. The only thing that’s changed with Abraham is he’s bigger since moving to super middleweight and definitely a lot stronger than he was at 160.

Paul Smith with size advantage over Arthur Abraham but little else

abraham4(Photo Credit: Sebastian Hagler) By Scott Gilfoid: Well, you can’t say #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) is over-matched in every department against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) ahead of their fight next month on September 27th at the Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The 5’11” Smith is two inches taller than the 5’9” Abraham, so that at least gives Smith one thing in his favor for this fight. But unfortunately, everything else is pretty much stacked in Abraham’s favor.

Arthur Abraham vs. Paul Smith on September 27th in Kiel, Germany

smith433By Scott Gilfoid: #5 WBO Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) will be getting a title shot against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4, 28 KOs) on September 27th in Kiel, Germany. This is an optional title defense in which Abraham’s promoters at Sauerland Events have handpicked the 31-year-old Smith.

Abraham hasn’t shown much interest in taking on any dangerous opponents like Andre Ward and some of the other top fighters. He’s kind of been locked into back and forth fights against Robert Stieglitz. When the two of them aren’t facing each other, they’re facing little known fringe contenders.

Paul Smith: Froch showed me how to beat Arthur Abraham

smith4234664By Scott Gilfoid: Paul Smith (35-3, 20 KOs) is on the verge of fighting for a world title for the first time in his 11-year pro career on September 27th against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (40-4-, 28 KOs) in Berlin, Germany.

The weird part about it is that Smith really didn’t have to beat anyone to get the fight. While he’s won his last 4 fights, he’s done it against marginal fighters, and he’s beaten far better than those guys during his career.

It’s just luck on Smith’s part that the WBO gave him #6 ranking based on wins over David Sarabia (7-4-2, 2 KO’s), Jamie Ambler (10-56-2, 3 KO’s), Tony Dodson (30-8-1, 14 KO’s) and Tommy Tolan (4-15-1, 3 KO’s). Before Smith beat these guys, he’d been knocked out in the 2nd round by George Groves in 2011.
