By Chris Williams: According to Boxing Talk, former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Nate Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KO’s) could be the next opponent for unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. for March 13th or whatever date that Golden Boy Promotions decides on making the fight. The question about whether Mayweather would be facing the 37-year-old Campbell was put to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who said “No comment.”

By Eric Thomas: According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be facing a number of potential boxing opponents such as Nate Campbell, Paulie Malignaggi, Kermit Cintron and Timothy Bradley. One opponent that Mayweather won’t be fighting is Matthew Hatton. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said there was no truth in the rumors that Mayweather was considering a fight with the younger Hatton brother.

The ruling was the result of an injury that occurred to Campbell during a head clash with Bradley in the 3rd round.

The fight ended up in controversy with Campbell sustaining a bad cut over his left eye from a head butt in the 3rd round last Saturday night. Witter injured his elbow in the early rounds and simply could not use his arm whatsoever. Although, the fight was either man’s for the taking, the Sheffield ‘Hitter’ and his corner agreed to pull out. Witter tried constantly changing his stance and changing his style but nothing worked.
