Korobov Stops Bartinelli

By Jim Dower: Unbeaten Russian middleweight prospect Matt Korobov (5-0, 5 KOs) kept his perfect knockout string intact with an impressive 2nd round TKO over journeyman Anthony Bartinelli (20-13-2, 13 KOs) on Saturday night on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Korobov, 26, a two time World amateur champion in 2005 and 2007 for Russia, knocked Bartinelli down in the 2nd round with a left to the head.

Pacquiao-Hatton Undercard Loaded With Mismatches!

kirkland3542347By Manuel Perez: The undercard of the Ricky Hatton vs. Manny Pacquiao bout on May 2nd is going to be loaded with nothing but utter mismatches with light middleweight James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs) facing Michael Walker (19-1-2, 12 KOs), and WBC super featherweight champion Humberto Soto will be defending his title against Canadian Benoit Gaudet (20-1, 7 KOs). Russian Matt Korobov (4-0, 4 KOs) will be facing Rodrigo Aguiar (5-4, 3 KOs) in a four round bout, and former Cuban star Erislandy Lara (4-0, 3 KOs) will be fighting Chris Gray (11-7, 1 KOs) in a 4-round bout. Most of these bouts will likely be over by the 1st or 2nd round due to the one-sided nature of them.

Korobov Stops Jones In 4th

korobov45343By Jim Dower: Undefeated Russian middleweight prospect Matt Korobov (4-0, 4 KOs) kept his perfect record and knockout string alive on Saturday night with a last second knockout in the 4th round against his crafty opponent Cory Jones (4-5, 1 KOs) at Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York. Korobov, 26, with seconds to go in the fight landed a short right hook to the head of Jones late in the 1st, sending him down on the canvas face first. Jones was too hurt to get up and the fight was immediately stopped by the referee at 2:59 of the 4th.

Korobov Destroys Florentino

korobov1By Dave Lahr: Undefeated Russian middleweight Matt Korobov (3-0, 3 KOs) made short work of his opponent Roberto Florentino (3-4, 3 KOs), knocking him out in the 1st round on Saturday night at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Korobov, 26, a World amateur middleweight champion in 2005 and 2007 for Russia and also a European champion in 2006, obliterated his over-matched opponent on Saturday night, taking Florentino, 27, out with a series of power shots as Roberto stood with his back to the ropes in the 1st round. Korobov finished him off with a left to the head that sent Florentino down with his head resting through the bottom rope.
