Hearn: Brook is going to fight Saldivia like a pound-for-pound champion

Image: Hearn: Brook is going to fight Saldivia like a pound-for-pound championBy Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for undefeated British welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s), sees him as a future pound for pound champion as he moves forward towards his IBF welterweight eliminator bout on Saturday night against Hector David Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO’s) at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Hearn said to Sky Sports News “We want Kell to be a pound for pound world champion…We believe for this fight, Kell has prepared like a pound-for-pound world champion and we think he can deliver a performance that warrants that title.

Brook: I’m going to finish off Khan and send him into retirement

Image: Brook: I'm going to finish off Khan and send him into retirementBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten welterweight Kell Brook figures he’s the man to put Amir Khan out of his misery by beating him and sending him into retirement when and if they face each other in 2013 like his promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping.

Brook said to Sky Sports News “I’m ready for that fight [against Khan]. Amir Khan has been knocked out at lightweight and light welterweight, and I’ll finish him off at welterweight, no problem.”

Khan vs. Brook possible for 2013

Image: Khan vs. Brook possible for 2013By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that he’s been in discussion with the promoter for Amir Khan about a fight between him and his fighter unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) for a bout that could take place in 2013, after Brook fights Hector Saldivia and the winner of the Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander fight. Obviously, it would be contingent on the 26-year-old Brook having the IBF welterweight title after beating the Alexander-Bailey winner. Fat chance that happens.

Hearn said to Sky Sports News “I first spoke to Asif Vali, Amir Khan’s manager after the Garcia [Khan vs. Danny Garcia] fight, thinking about a potential Brook vs. Khan fight in the winter or early next year. Those discussions continued after their recent appearances on Ringside. I think this fight is inevitable.”

Brook vs. Saldivia: Will Kell’s stamina problems rear their ugly head?

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) blames his poor performance in his last fight against Carson Jones on him being poorly conditioned from a bad diet for him running out of gas after the 6th round past July. Brook has hired worked on this problem since and supposedly we’ll be seeing the new and improved Brook in his fight later this month against Argentina’s Hector Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO’s) at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK.

Brook: Hatton would be a tougher fight for me than Khan

Image: Brook: Hatton would be a tougher fight for me than KhanBy William Mackay: Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) perceives 33-year-old Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) to be the tougher fight compared Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) in judging who he would have a tougher time trying to beat if a mega fight could be put together with him and Khan or Hatton.

Brook told Sky Sports Ringside “I think Ricky would be the harder fight for me. Obviously with all his experience and and he is an all around fighter. He can take a shot and he keeps on coming. He has got a good engine on him.”

Khan: I’ll fight Brook if he beats Tim Bradley

Image: Khan: I'll fight Brook if he beats Tim BradleyBy Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan really worked Kell Brook over in the latest Sky Ringside, reminding him how he used to beat up in sparring years ago. All Brook could do while Khan was talking was stutter and look uncomfortable. Book looked like he didn’t want to be there. The good thing that came out of all this, however, was that Khan said he’s interested in fighting Brook just so long as Brook defeats WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley. Fat chance that happens.

Khan and Brook had this to say during this week’s Sky Ringside:

Khan: “We had great sparring sessions.”

Kell Brook interested in fighting Ricky Hatton

Image: Kell Brook interested in fighting Ricky HattonBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) was pleased to hear that Ricky Hatton is interested in fighting him, and Brook, #2 IBF, #3 WBA, #5 WBO, is hoping he can fight both Hatton and Amir Khan in the near future. However, Brook has an IBF welterweight eliminator bout coming up this month on October 20th against #3 IBF Hector David Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO’s) at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Brook has to win this fight so that he can become the mandatory challenger for IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey. I hope for Brook’s sake he isn’t looking past the 28-year-old Saldivia because that would be a fatal mistake for Brook to be making at this point, especially after his god awful performance last July in winning a very questionable 12 round majority decision over American Carson Jones. Brook is a good six round fighter, but he doesn’t have the stamina to beat the good fighters, as we saw in the Carson Jones fight.

Saldivia may need to KO Kell Brook to get victory in UK

By Scott Gilfoid: It’s sad but possibly true that in order to ensure that he escapes with a victory over unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) on October 20th, #3 IBF Hector David Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO’s) may need to score a knockout against him in their IBF welterweight eliminator bout at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK.

Kell Brook makes a smart move in passing up the chance to fight Timothy Bradley

Image: Kell Brook makes a smart move in passing up the chance to fight Timothy BradleyBy Marcus Stewart: Kell Brook admitted that he was offered the chance to fight WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. He decided to turn down the offer and continue preparing for his fight against Hector Saldivia. This I believe is a very smart move.

Before he wins the IBF welterweight strap off of either Devon Alexander or Randall Bailey he can gain more valuable experience from fighting Hector Saldivia. Then once he is world champion the fight with Timothy Bradley becomes even bigger and will likely sell more tickets as it’s between two world champions, thereby making it a unification bout despite the fact that Timothy Bradley doesn’t deserve to be the WBO welterweight champion after his extremely controversial win over Manny Pacquiao.
