Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guerrero and Adrien Broner vs John Molina Jr headed for March 7th

broner9991By DA: According to Boxrec.com, WBA interim welterweight champion Keith Thurman will be facing former two division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also on the card will be former three division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner facing lightweight slugger John Molina Jr.

This is definitely one great card he’s putting up. Keith Thurman and Robert Guerrero will be an action packed fight and it’s not an easy fight for either guy at all.

Keith Thurman talks about being the new Mike Tyson

thurman78888By Jim Dower: When asked about how some see interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (24-0, 21 KOs) as the new Mike Tyson, Thurman said that he feels he’s got most of the things that Tyson used to do covered.

Thurman still doesn’t have the experience at welterweight for anyone to compare him to Tyson. If Thurman’s last fight against Leonard Bundu is any indication, he’s heading more towards becoming the next Amir Khan or Erislandy Lara rather than the next Tyson.

Keith Thurman should tone down his knockout talk

thurman66By Jim Dower: Interim WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (24-0, 21 KOs) has created a lot of fuss about himself by talking about himself as if he were a knockout artist capable of stopping anyone in the 147 pound division.

Thurman was able to do this because he was knocking out the mostly weak opposition that his adviser has been putting him in the ring with. But recently we saw Thurman running from the light hitting 40-year-old Leonard Bundu last December while in the process of beating him by a 12 round decision.

De La Hoya: Keith Thurman is better than Golovkin

golovkin888By Jim Dower: Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya believes that his fighter interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (24-0, 21 KOs) is a better fighter than WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs).

De La Hoya believes this because Golovkin doesn’t choose to move around the ring constantly the way that Thurman does when he fights. De La Hoya says that Golovkin can’t fight going backwards the way that Thurman does.

Thurman not in the cards for Maidana

thurman78888By Jim Dower: Interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman won the battle in defeating European level fighter Leonard Bundu last Saturday night in winning a 12 round unanimous decision, but Thurman’s timid fighting style ultimately may have lost him a chance at getting a bigger fight against former two division world champion Marcos Maidana who was ringside at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada for the fight.

Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi thinks Thurman looked bad in the fight, and he was surprised that he had the nerve to call Maidana out after the fight with the boxing fans booing Thurman at ringside.

Thurman wants Maidana fight

maidana4566By Jim Dower: Fresh off his less than thrilling 12 round unanimous decision win over 40-year-old Leonard Bundu last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (24-0, 21 KOs) now says he wants a fight against Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) next in 2015.

Thurman was booed constantly for all the movement that he made against Bundu. It was not an entertaining fight because Thurman would immediately back away and start circling the ring at the slightest hint of aggression from Bundu.

Khan and Thurman dominating performances at Las Vegas MGM Grand

Amir Khan vs Devon AlexanderBy Matthias Predonzan: The performance that last night Amir Khan put together against Devon Alexander, was the best of his career. After his defeat against Danny Garcia and the poor performance in his tuning bout against Julio Diaz, it looked like Khan career could have been at its end.

Many were expecting him to lose against the solidity of Luis Collazo but in that occasion Khan displayed all his class, controlling his opponent for 12 round and winning convincingly an UD.

He did not take any risk, clinching his contender every time he needed to do it and for this reason he was criticized by some critics and fans.

Top welters in action but nobody wants Thurman

Keith Thurman and Leonard Bundu(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Gav Duthie: This Saturday hosts several top welterweights in action in Tim Bradley, Amir Khan, Devon Alexander, Victor Ortiz and Keith Thurman. Once again Thurman is left holding the short straw as he faces the 39 year old Italian and European champion Leonard Bundu 31-0-2 (11). Why one of these other self-proclaimed world class fighters doesn’t want to fight Thurman is beyond me.

Promotion

How badly Thurman has been advised is horrible. Golden Boy have steered him in the direction of the WBA where he is the #1 contender. Mayweather is the champion and hell will freeze over before the WBA demands he fight ‘One Time’ as mandatory.

Thurman: I’m looking forward to destroying Mayweather

Keith Thurman(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: With interim WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (23-0, 21 KOs) pretty much a forgotten man on the Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander card, Thurman took efforts to make himself heard on Friday by calling out WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr in order likely to get some badly needed attention.

Thurman obviously is a million miles away from getting a fight against Mayweather thanks in large part to the poor match-making that Thurman’s adviser and promoters have been doing for him. Instead of facing the high quality opposition in the welterweight division, Thurman’s management has kept the training wheels on him by matching him against weaker opponents.
