By Allan Fox: WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman will be ordering a fight between #1 WBC contender Danny Garcia and #2 Shawn Porter for the interim WBC welterweight title due to champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman being out with a hand injury and unable to fight on his previously scheduled May 19th date. Thurman wasn’t planning on fighting either of those guys anyway. He was going to take a tune-up bout before facing Porter or Garcia later this year.

Thurman says those people that think Spence can beat him will wind up losing their money for betting on him. Thurman says it won’t be his fault that they lost their money. It’ll be his fault that he beat Spence.

By Stanley White: Danny Garcia did what most people thought he would in defeating past his best Brandon Rios by a 9th round knockout last Saturday night to bounce back from his loss to Keith Thurman. While the outcome for Garcia (34-1, 20 KOs) was a good one with him knocking out the 31-year-old Rios with a big right hand in the 9th, it doesn’t solve his problems of how he’s going to be able to win another world title at 147 with the belts held by Keith Thurman, Errol Spence Jr., Lucas Matthysse and soon Terence Crawford.
