Donaire: Nishioka is more dangerous than Rigondeaux

Image: Donaire: Nishioka is more dangerous than RigondeauxBy Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) is convinced that his opponent this Saturday 36-year-old former super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) is the most dangerous fighter at super bantamweight, even better than WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux. I’m pretty sure boxing fans aren’t buying this, because Nishioka has looked awful recently, more like a fading contender than a former champion.

Donaire told Fighthub.tv “I think the most dangerous guy is right behind me, Nishioka. He has more power and he knows how to fight. He’s been in the game a long time and he’s a very dangerous guy.”

Rigondeaux possible for Bradley undercard on December 15th

Rigondeaux, 32, recently defeated Top Rank stable fighter Robert Marroquin by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision last month on September 15th on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs. Sergio Martinez fight.

The final judges’ scores were 118-108, 118-108 and 118-108.

Rigondeaux vs. Marroquin on Saturday

Image: Rigondeaux vs. Marroquin on SaturdayBy Allan Fox: WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (10-0, 8 KO’s) will be seeing what he can do against highly thought of Top Rank prospect Robert Marroquin (22-1, 15 KO’s) on Saturday night on the undercard of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Sergio Martinez at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This fight is going to be seen by millions of boxing fans giving the 31-year-old Rigondeaux a great chance of winning over countless fans if he can beat Marroquin as impressively as he’s beaten his last three opponents Willie Casey, Rico Ramos and Teon Kennedy. Marroquin, 22, is in the same class as those guys, maybe a little worse. But Rigondeaux needs to adapt to whatever Marroquin brings to the ring in this fight and quickly look to take him out as fast as possible to look good.

Rigondeaux-Marroquin fight back on the Chavez Jr. vs Martinez PPV card this Saturday

Image: Rigondeaux-Marroquin fight back on the Chavez Jr. vs Martinez PPV card this SaturdayBy Dan Ambrose: WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (10-0, 8 KO’s) will be getting a nice little payday this Saturday night when he takes on fringe Top Rank contender Robert Marroquin (22-1, 15 KO’s) in what should be an incredibly easy title defense on the undercard of the $49.99 pay per view card headed by WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Sergio Martinez at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rigondeaux’s manager Gary Hyde reportedly worked out a deal with Top Rank so that the Rigondeaux-Marroquin fight can take place on the Chavez Jr-Martinez card. The fight itself is kind of a nothing fight, but this is the guy that Top Rank wants Rigondeaux to fight for some odd reason. Marroquin is one of their Top Rank fighters, and you have to imagine it’s a big gamble on their part to where they’re likely hoping that Marroquin can put in a good showing in losing to Rigondeaux.
