Andre Ward/Gennady Golovkin: Be Fair

k2ggg020114fightJ(Photo credit: Sumio Yamada) By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: I’m a big fan of fair. I do my best to research facts and try to avoid the flowery words, smoke and mirrors, propaganda words thrown out by a fighter to get the public on their side. I even go to websites where the reader can look up the facts, but still sometimes it doesn’t work do to the emotional comments I read in response to my blogs. But let’s talk fair. Gennady Golovkin trainer, Abel Sanchez threw a carrot out to the public sometime ago saying that Triple G, (Gennady’s nickname) will fight anybody, anytime, anywhere from 154 to 175 pounds.

There has been major talk from the public from the public about GGG fighting Andre Ward who has expressed his interest in fighting the 160 pound WBA champ. But when Sanchez was asked about a possible fight with Ward? His response? “We want to move up after destroying every fighter who wants to fight us at 160 so that we can be on par with Andre Ward”. That seems fair enough.

Andy Lee one of the candidates for Gennady Golovkin’s next fight in April

lee91By Scott Gilfoid: If you were hoping to see some improvement in the opposition for WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO’s) for his next fight on April 26th then I’m sorry to have to disappoint you. It looks as if Golovkin will be fighting a lesser opponent for his next fight at Madison Square Garden in New York.

James Kirkland, a highly ranked junior middleweight contender, is reportedly pricing himself out of the fight with Golovkin. So instead of Kirkland, it could very well be fringe middleweight contender Andy Lee (31-2, 22 KO’s) that gets the fight with Golovkin. Lee, just so you know, is ranked #7 WBC, #11 WBA, #11 WBO in the middleweight division. Lee is arguably a lateral move from Golvokin’s last fight against Osumanu Adama, who Golovskin smashed in 7 rounds on Saturday at the Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Golovkin to fight next on April 26th

k2ggg020114fightE(Photo/Courtesy Sumio Yamada) By Dan Ambrose: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO’s) will be back in the ring in two months on April 26th to fight one of three possible opponents on HBO in a fight that will be staged at Madison Square Garden in New York, in the U.S. Earlier today, Golovkin destroyed #12 WBA Osumanau Adama (22-4, 16 KO’s) in a 7th round TKO in a kind of a stay busy fight for Golovkin at the Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco. Golovkin toyed with the 33-year-old Adama, dropping him three times before knocking him out in the 7th round.

Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions said this via Fightnews “Right now we have offers out to three HBO approved fighters for April 26th at Madison Square Garden and we look forward to returning to New York City with Gennady.”

Golovkin stops Adama in 7th round!

k2ggg010114fightG(Photo/Courtesy Sumio Yamada) By Jim Dower: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO’s) annihilated a badly over-matched #12 WBA Osumanu Adama (22-4, 16 KO’s) in a 7th round stoppage on Saturday night at the Salle des etoiles, in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Golovkin knocked Adama down three times in the fight and had his face badly swelled up by the time the fight was halted. Adama was knocked down in the 1st, 6th and 7th rounds.

The referee Luis Pabon halted the fight at the 1:20 mark in the 7th after Golovkin staggered Adama with a left hook to the head. The shot wasn’t any more special than some of the other shots that Golovkin had landed earlier in the fight, but the referee had seen enough and decided to halt the fight.

Macklin gives Adama little chance of beating Golovkin tonight

golovkin11(Photo, Courtesy Sumio Yamada/Christian Kuechl) By Scott Gilfoid: Matthew Macklin, one of the former knockout victims of WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25 KO’s), is giving his opponent for tonight Osumanu Adama (22-3, 16 KO’s) next to no chance of beating Golovkin when the two meet each other tonight at the Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco. Macklin was blasted out in 3 rounds by Golovkin last year in getting stopped with a body shot last June.

Macklin thinks that the only chance that Adama has to win the fight is if he goes right after Golovkin and tries to turn it into a war rather than trying to survive by boxing him. In fact, Macklin feels that the last thing that Adama wants to do is go in there and try to box Golovkin. Macklin thinks this would be a mistake due to Golovkin’s superior boxing skills.

Weights: Golovkin 159.4, Adama 159.25

k2ggg013114GGGOAstare-1(Photo credit, Courtesy Sumio Yamada/Christian Kuechl) By Allan Fox: IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25 KO’s) made weight on Friday for his fight on Saturday night against little known fringe contender Osumanu Adama (22-3, 16 KO’s) at the Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco. Golovkin weighed in at 159.4 lbs., and looked in excellent shape. The 33-year-old Adama weighed in slightly less at 159.25 lbs.

The fight won’t be televised in the United States due to logistical problems related to the small size of the facility which wasn’t large enough for HBO’s television crew. Golovkin isn’t happy about it, but it’s expected that HBO wouldn’t be televising the fight because it’s more of a stay busy fight than a bout of interest for fans. Golovkin’s promoters at K2 Promotions need to put forth a little more effort when finding opposition for him if he wants to have all 4 of his fights per year to be televised by HBO.

Golovkin ready for Adama on Saturday

LONDON (Jan. 31) – Gennady Golovkin is hoping his outstanding 2013 can push him to even greater heights in the new year by beating the biggest names in the middleweight division.

The unbeaten Kazakhstani assassin has become one of boxing’s most feared punchers after brutally blasting his way past all four challengers last year to amass a record of 28 wins with 25 knockouts.

The 31-year-old will be looking for much of the same when he steps back into the ring this Saturday night in Monte Carlo when he defends his WBA middleweight world title against Ghanaian contender Osumanu Adama.

The Gennady Golovkin Problem

golovkin2By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: Late great former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier planted three seeds into Marvin Hagler’s mind. Frazier told Hagler he had three strikes going against him. The first was he was a southpaw. Two, you’re good and three you’re black. The first two can legitimately justified because nobody really likes fighting southpaws and Hagler was good.

So good in fact that he was passed over for a title shot for seven years. The last seed however I cannot really roll with. The 70’s going into the 80 produced a crop of black champion and soon to be champions. Hagler often felt disrespected by the public and never felt they embraced him. Hagler was determined to let his fists and not his personality do the talking. Hagler wasn’t really accepted until he had that marquee fight against Thomas Hearns

Adama says he’s not afraid of Golovkin

By Eric Thomas: #12 WBA Osumanu Adama (22-3, 16 KO’s) figures he has an advantage over the typical opponent that WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25 KO’s) faces in that he’s not afraid of fighting the hard-hitting Kazakhstan puncher, and he feels this will be the deciding factor in their bout on Saturday night at the Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco.
