Eubank Jr. could fight on Golovkin vs. Brook undercard

eubank74

By Patrick McHugh: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is saying that Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs) could be added to the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Kell Brook card on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Having the 26-year-old Eubank Jr. on the undercard of the Golovkin-Brook fight would help setup a fight between the winner of them and Eubank Jr. later on in the year in December.

Hearn would like to match Eubank Jr. against the winner of that fight, as he promotes Eubank Jr. as well as Brook. It would be a win-win situation for Hearn and his Matchroom stable if they can get the winner of the Golokvin vs. Brook fight to face Eubank Jr. rather than having them move in another direction.

Golovkin: Kell Brook is the same size as me

golovkin6789

By Dan Ambrose: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin met with his opponent for his next fight Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) earlier today in their kickoff press conference at in New York. This was the first time these two fighters had been in the same room with each other, and enabled them to size each other up before their fight on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Golovkin immediately noticed that the 30-year-old Brook was the same height as him, as well as being very big in terms of overall size. Brook looked nothing like a welterweight at all. He looked like a middleweight just like Golovkin. If Brook’s size remains the same as it is now, it could make for an interesting figh with two fighters of equal size battling it out on September 10 on Sky Box Office and HBO.

Deontay Wilder: Golovkin is being a hypocrite

arreola-wilder (8)

By Dan Ambrose: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder says IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) is a hypocrite for selecting welterweight Kell “Special K’ Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) to fight in his next title defense on September 10 rather than fighting someone from his own division at 160.

Golovkin has previously made comments about the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Amir Khan fight last May, saying it’s a “business fight’ and that it wasn’t “respect” for the sport that Canelo was fighting a guy two divisions below him. Golovkin is now doing the same thing by fighting Brook, according to Deontay Wilder.

Golovkin vs. Brook head to head at New York press conference

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) and Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) met on Thursday for their first press conference in New York. I must say that there’s not much difference in size between the two fighters.

The two stood side by side on stage and they looked nearly the same in the size department. Golovkin looked muscular and in shape compared to Brook, who appears to be a little chunky and carrying around extra weight. Golovkin already looks like he’s ready to fight. GGG looked in great shape. I wish I could say the same thing for Brook, who just looked blocky and not in shape.

Brook interested in Eubank Jr fight after Golovkin

brook75

By Jeff Aranow: Welterweight Kell Brook says he’d be interested in facing Chris Eubank Jr. if/when he defeats IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 10. Brook figures to beat Golovkin to take his four world titles from him in their fight at the O2 Arena in London, England. At that point, Brook says he would be open to discussions about particular fights and fight options. Brook could stay at middleweight to defend his belts against Eubank Jr. in what would be a big fight, or he could move back down to 147 to continue to defend his IBF welterweight title.

It might be a little tough for Brook to lose the fight to get back down to 147. Unless there’s a meaningful fight for Brook at welterweight after his next fight with Triple G, it might not be worth it for Brook to go back down in weight. He’s already fought at welterweight for 12 years and has never been able to get any of the top names to fight him in that weight class.

Arum: Kell Brook gets KO’d just like Khan did

arum6

By Jeff Aranow: The well-known Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says that welterweight Kell Brook (36-0 25 KOs) is going to suffer the same fate that Amir Khan did recently when he made the move to step up in weight two divisions to take on a powerful middleweight in Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Arum says he sees the 30-year-old Brook getting knocked out by IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 10th. In fact, Arum gives Brook zero chance of winning the fight against Triple G.

Hearn: Kell Brook weighs 178lbs, heavier than Golovkin

brook8

By Scott Gilfoid: If you’re wondering why welterweight Kell Brook isn’t so worried about fighting middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin for their fight on September 10 at 160, it’s because Brook weighs more than Golovkin. According to Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, Brook is weighing 178 pounds right now. He’s actually training down to get to 160 rather than training to gain weight to make the limit. Hearn says that Brook was at 185, but lost seven pounds to get to 178.

This isn’t surprising because Brook says it himself that he’s been draining himself for a long, long time to strip off weight to fight at the 147lb limit at welterweight all these years. Brook says he’s in between a 154lb and 160lb fighter in terms of his true weight class.

This means that Brook is a small middleweight just like Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and just like Golovkin, who rehydrates to only 170lbs for his fights at middleweight. Golovkin could fight at junior middleweight if he wanted to if he wanted to try and get an advantage over his opponents in terms of weight. Golovkin doesn’t play that. He likes to fight guys that are either the same size as him or bigger. In the case of Brook, he’s likely to be bigger than GGG.

Brook: I’m going to beat Golovkin with my speed & power

brook86

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) doesn’t see himself as a welterweight. He feels that he’s in between junior middleweight and middleweight. In other words, Brook sees himself as a small middleweight that has been draining down to fight at 147 against welterweights his entire career.

Brook will be testing himself against the best fighter in the middleweight division in Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Brook says he’s going to beat Golovkin with his speed and punching power.

Brook feels that his power is enough to stop any fighter in the sport, and Golovkin is no exception. Brook wants to KO Golovkin. However, if the KO isn’t there, then he’ll be satisfied with just getting the win by a decision.

Lee Haskins vs. Stuart Hall on Brook-Golovkin card

Image: Lee Haskins vs. Stuart Hall on Brook-Golovkin card

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF World bantamweight champion Lee Haskins (33-3-, 14 KOs) will be making his second defense of his IBF belt against 36-year-old Stuart Hall (20-4-2, 7 KOs) on September 10 on the undercard of the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Kell Brook card at the O2 Arena in London, England. The fight card will be televised on Sky Box Office pay-per-view in the UK. I can’t say that the Haskins vs. Hall fight is a good one, because I don’t think it is. There are a number of fighters that I feel are more deserving of a title shot than Hall at the moment in my view.

Haskins, 33, has already easily beaten Hall in the past four years ago in defeating him by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision in 2012. Hall has since posted an 8-2-1 record with most of his victories coming against weaker opposition Hall has won his last four fights since suffering back to back losses to Randy Caballero and Paul Butler in 2014.
