By Jeff Aranow: Welterweight Kell Brook says he’d be interested in facing Chris Eubank Jr. if/when he defeats IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 10. Brook figures to beat Golovkin to take his four world titles from him in their fight at the O2 Arena in London, England. At that point, Brook says he would be open to discussions about particular fights and fight options. Brook could stay at middleweight to defend his belts against Eubank Jr. in what would be a big fight, or he could move back down to 147 to continue to defend his IBF welterweight title.

It might be a little tough for Brook to lose the fight to get back down to 147. Unless there’s a meaningful fight for Brook at welterweight after his next fight with Triple G, it might not be worth it for Brook to go back down in weight. He’s already fought at welterweight for 12 years and has never been able to get any of the top names to fight him in that weight class.

Unless he wants more of the same, Brook might be better off staying at middleweight where the top fighters aren’t afraid to fight him and where he can get huge fights one after another.

“I think he’s got a lot of potential, but I think his dad’s an idiot,” said Brook to IFL TV about Chris Eubank Jr. and his father Chris Eubank Sr. “I think his dad’s a joker. I can’t take him serious. He’s ruining his son’s life. He’s ruining his kid’s life. He had the same contract [I did]. Look how fast I signed. I signed for the fight and I’m an unbeaten world champion. I’ve never been close to being beaten. I signed the contract in quick time. He messed it about dragging his feet. He messed it up for his son. So I’m going to show him what it’s all about in this fight, and take the title from Triple G. Who does he think he is? I’m not going to come up and demand thing like contracts, security, how much he’s going to be paying the undercard. He wanted Barry McGuigan commentating on his fight, because he had him commentating when he boxed [Nigel] Benn. I think he seriously is going to have to have a word with himself, and come back down to earth,” said Brook.

When asked if he would be interested in facing Chris Eubank Jr. after the Golovkin fight, Brook said, “I think we can talk about the fight absolutely, because there’s big talk now that he lost his pen and couldn’t sign the [Golovkin] contract. I took the fight. His name is still connected to us. I think it would blow up to be a big fight [Brook vs. Eubank Jr]. By then, I’m the pound-for-pound. I’m like royalty,” said Brook.
