2017: What is there to look forward to?

Image: 2017: What is there to look forward to?

By Rameez Haider: Before I go into this article, I just wanted to say that I respect everyone’s opinion no matter what race, gender etc. My last article on Amir Khan bought many different opinions but when people start bringing religion into things, I just think it is totally unjustified and quite frankly disgusting. At the end of the day we all love boxing and no matter what your race, religious beliefs etc. we all share that common love of the sport, so please don’t lose sight of the fact that we are here to discuss boxing nothing more nothing less.

Jacobs a huge underdog against Golovkin

Image: Jacobs a huge underdog against Golovkin

By Eric Baldwin: Danny Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) is reportedly a HUGE 8-1 underdog in his showdown against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) on March 18 on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jacobs has a lot of talent as well as punching power going for him in this fight, but he’s facing a guy that is viewed as the best fighter in the 160lb division by many boxing experts.

Indeed, Golovkin may be the best fighter in all of boxing. He’s not just beating his opposition; he’s dominating them and knocking them out, all of them. Golovkin has knocked out 23 consecutive opponents since 2008, and Jacobs would seem to be No.24.

Eubank Jr. says Golovkin fight will happen in 2017

Image: Eubank Jr. says Golovkin fight will happen in 2017

By Scott Gilfoid: Chris Eubank Jr. disappointed a lot of his boxing fans when he failed to agree to a fight against middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin last September. The fight was offered to Eubank Jr. by his promoter Eddie Hearn. When Eubank Jr. failed to agree to the terms of the fight quickly enough to Hearn’s liking, he offered it to welterweight Kell Brook, who readily agreed to the same deal.

Eubank Jr. has now moved up to super middleweight. However, the 27-year-old Eubank Jr. believes that the Golovkin fight is still there for him, and that he’ll be fighting him in 2017, believe it or not.

Mayweather currently weighs 160lbs, perfect for GGG

Image: Mayweather currently weighs 160lbs, perfect for GGG

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in this week at 160 pounds in his retirement. Mayweather is staying active since he stopped fighting after beating Andre Berto in September 2015. Mayweather weighed in while working out in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 160lbs that Mayweather weighed in has some boxing fans wondering whether he would be willing to return to the ring to fight middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in a huge mega-fight. Mayweather has already beaten Golden Boy Promotions star Saul Canelo Alvarez in 2013 in winning a 12 round decision.

DeGale: I want Gennady Golovkin

Image: DeGale: I want Gennady Golovkin

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion James “Chunky” DeGale (23-1, 14 KOs) says he’s interested and WILLING to move down to middleweight to challenge IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs). DeGale, 30, wants the fight against Golovkin and is ready to drain down eight pounds from 168lbs to make the fight happen.

DeGale is also interested in fighting the winner of the rematch between IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev. DeGale prefers to fight Ward though, because he’s more of a boxer and he wouldn’t be trying to take him out in the way that Kovalev would.

Golovkin will beat Jacobs easily says Sanchez

Image: Golovkin will beat Jacobs easily says Sanchez

By Eric Baldwin: Gennady Golovkin will have an easy time defeating Daniel Jacobs in their middleweight showdown on March 18, according to Triple G’s trainer Abel Sanchez. He doesn’t think that Jacobs will hold up under the heavy shots from Golovkin once he started touching him to the head and body in their fight on HBO PPV from Madison Square Garden.

Sanchez wants all the doubters and haters that criticized Golovkin all this time for him not having fought anyone good, he wants them to give him credit for the job he’s done against Jacobs.

Khan says he wants Brook after watching Golovkin fight

Image: Khan says he wants Brook after watching Golovkin fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) says his decision about wanting to fight IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) came after watching him fight IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) recently. Khan watched the Golovkin-Brook fight and decided he wanted to face the 30-year-old Brook.

Khan doesn’t say what precisely about the fight that made him want to face Brook, but it’s likely that he saw how he fell apart under the pressure of GGG, and wasn’t able or willing to stand and fight the way he needed to for him to have a chance of victory.

GGG-Jacobs: It’s About Time

Image: GGG-Jacobs: It’s About Time

By Dan Tria – Finally – Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs are going to fight! March 18 at Madison Square Garden on HBO Pay-Per-View – what isn’t to like!

Well, lots.

GGG and Jacobs knocked out their opponents one day apart and it took until mid-December to make a fight ordered in early September. Par for the course with Al Haymon-advised fighters.

Jacobs held all the leverage because GGG’s goal is all the middleweight belts. Any pulling out or making of different fights means GGG is stripped of the WBA belt and Jacobs wins it without throwing a punch. No way Jacobs makes the fight at that point.

Golovkin wants Jacobs fight to be “Big drama show”

Image: Golovkin wants Jacobs fight to be “Big drama show”

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) is already letting the fans know that he intends on making his WBA ordered fight against Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) a “Big drama show” on March 18 when the two middleweight champions fight each other on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York.

This means that Golovkin is going to turn his fight against Jacobs into a war from start to finish like he did against Kell Brook last September. Unfortunately, Brook wasn’t willing to fight a war against GGG, as we saw. Brook was on his bike from the get go and running for the hills.

Should Golovkin accept Golden Boy’s $15M offer for Canelo fight?

Image: Should Golovkin accept Golden Boy’s $15M offer for Canelo fight?

By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions has apparently sweetened their original flat fee offer of $10 million to $15 million for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) to fight their top money maker in their stable Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) in September 2017 in a mega-fight on HBO PPV. While the lump sum offer is increasing for Golovkin from Golden Boy, it still amounts to be just a flat fee and not the percentage deal that GGG and his promoter Tom Loeffler are looking for before they’ll give them their John Hancock signature on a contract.
