Huck defends WBO cruiserweight title against Arslan on 11/3

Image: Huck defends WBO cruiserweight title against Arslan on 11/3By Jason Kim: WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-2, 25 KO’s) will be making his 10th title defense of his World Boxing Organization belt on November 3rd against #8 WBO Firat Arslan (32-5-2, 21 KO’s) at the Gerry Weber Stadium, Halle, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

This defense should be a lot easier one than Huck’s last fight against interim WBO cruiserweight champion Ola Afolabi, who Huck had to rally to earn a 12 round draw against last May. Huck appeared to lose that fight, but like in his bout with Denis Lebedev, he was able to dodge a bullet and was saved from defeat somehow.

Brähmer stops Guerrero, Boytsov destroys Wilson, Chakhkiev, Chagaev, Arslan and Menzer also win

By Scott Gilfoid: Tonight’s card in Hamburg, Germany was a rather disappointing one due to the lack of competitive fights from the top to the very bottom of the card. In the main event, former WBO light heavyweight champion Jurgen Brahmer (37-2, 30 KO’s) came back from 21 long months out of the ring to defeat a fighter named Jose Maria Guerrero (29-3-1, 11 Ko’s) by a 4th round TKO at the Grand Elysee.

Arslan took a real pounding from Herelius – Should he retire?

Image: Arslan took a real pounding from Herelius – Should he retire?By Erik Schmidt: For those who said that former WBA cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan (29-5-1, 18 KO’s) was doing well in his fight against France’s Steve Herelius (20-1-1, 12 KO’s) on Saturday night, I think they need to watch the fight again. Arslan, 39, looked old and unable to pull the trigger for most of the fight. He took a real pounding, especially in the 11th round when he was hurt by a big right hand from Herelius. Arslan didn’t go down, to his credit, but he may have wished he did because the 33-year-old Herelius was able to tee off on Arslan at will for well over a minute before the round ended.
