Devon Alexander signs contract for Bradley bout on January 29th

By Chris Williams: World Boxing Council light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KO’s) signed the contract for a unification bout against WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) on January 2011. There may not be an official light welterweight tournament, because Victor Ortiz isn’t facing any of the top four light welterweights, but it pretty much comes out to the same thing as if there is one. WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan is facing Marcos Maidana on December 11th, and the winner of that fight is going to be facing the winner of Alexander vs. Bradley.

No Dirrell vs. Ward, America gets Alexander vs. Bradley: Who will carry the torch for USA boxing?

By Ronald Peter: After Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward’s (22-0 13 KO) 2 dominating performances in the Super 6 tournament over Kessler and Green it became obvious that it will be up to him to carry America’s boxing future for the next decade. When Olympic bronze medalist Andre Dirrell (19-1 13 KO) went to Nottingham and gave Carl Froch all he could handle in a controversial SD loss, then in Detroit he put on a performance of a life time before his DQ win over Arthur Abraham.

Khan says Maidana will be tougher than Bradley and Alexander

By Sean McDaniel: It wasn’t easy for Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) to get a fight with World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s). Maidana pursued Khan for the past year before finally getting his shot against the British fighter. Khan, in an article at the Manchester Evening News, says “I did not duck this. I’ve wanted this fight for a long time but he [Maidana] asked for stupid money. He wanted three times more than he got in his last fight. In the end, we said, ‘If you want that much, we will give you it, but it’s got to be in the UK.’ The problems was, if it went to purse bids the U.S would win, so I said, ‘I’ll fight you anywhere.’ After him, I want [Timothy] Bradley or [Devon] Alexander, but I think Maidana will be tougher than either of them.”

Bradley-Alexander: These dudes need to fight already

By Chris Williams: I’ve lost interest in watching Devon Alexander vs. Timothy Bradley a long time ago. With all their bickering over contracts and with this and that. It’s so boring and I don’t even care which one of these guys wins the fight. For a while, I thought Bradley was the best fighter in the light welterweight division, but I thinks he’s been surpassed by Victor Ortiz. Bradley has wasted too much time fighting nobodies and now Ortiz has slide on up and is probably the best guy in a weak division.

Ortiz may be better than Alexander, Khan, Bradley and Maidana

Image: Ortiz may be better than Alexander, Khan, Bradley and MaidanaBy Jason Kim: Victor Ortiz (28-2-1, 22 KO’s) could very well be the best light welterweight in the division after destroying Vivian Harrison (29-5-1, 19 KO’s) in three rounds last Saturday night on the undercard of the Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora bout at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Ortiz, 23, knocked Harris down four times in the fight before it was stopped by referee Raul Caiz Sr. at 0:45 of the 3rd round.

Team Alexander accepts offer from King to fight Bradley on 1/29

Image: Team Alexander accepts offer from King to fight Bradley on 1/29By Jim Dower: A unification fight between IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KO’s) and WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) just came one step closer to becoming reality, as Team Alexander accepted an offer from promoter Don King for the unification bout with Bradley for January 29th, 2011. Team Alexander is now waiting for a bout agreement. Hopefully, this can be taken care of soon, because this is so boring and not interesting to see the two sides haggling forever.

Khan says after Maidana, he wants the Bradley-Alexander winner

Image: Khan says after Maidana, he wants the Bradley-Alexander winnerBy Dan Ambrose: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) says he’ll be the unified light welterweight champion by the end of 2011. In Khan’s twitter, he says “After [Marcos] Maidana, I want the winner of [Timothy] Bradley vs. [Devon] Alexander. I promise by the end of next year I will be unified champ.” That’s pretty interesting given that we’re not even clear yet whether Khan will be fighting Maidana next. He’s supposed to be fighting Maidana on December 11th, but there’s been complaints from Khan’s manager that Maidana is asking for too much money for the fight because he wants $1 million for the fight.

Khan says he wants Maidana next and then the Bradley vs. Alexander winner

By William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) now seems to be changing his tune from wanting a fight against WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on December 11th to now talking about wanting to fight WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KO’s) next in December, according to boxing news from the 23-year-old Khan’s Twitter page. Khan said this about fighting Maidana: “Looking @ fighting Maidana. Hopefully, Golden Boy Promotions [Khan’s promoter] can get the fight in the UK in December 11th, and then go for the winner of Alexander vs. Bradley in the new year.”
