Carson Jones sees Trout as tough fight for Cotto

Image: Carson Jones sees Trout as tough fight for CottoBy Dan Ambrose: Welterweight contender Carson Jones has been helping Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) out recently with sparring to try and get him ready for his December 1st fight against WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Jones has a pretty good idea of how good Cotto is after sparring with him and can give an expert opinion about whether Cotto has a real chance against Trout or not.

Jones said to Chris Robinson at CRHarmony “I think it’s a tough fight for Miguel. Austin is young, hungry, but he just doesn’t have the names on his resume yet. I think this will be a tough fight for Cotto.”

Trout plans on using his size to beat the smaller Cotto

Image: Trout plans on using his size to beat the smaller Cotto(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: 5’10” WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) thinks that Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) and his team underestimated how much bigger he is than the 5’7″ Cotto, and Trout says he plans on using his extra three inches in height and five inches in reach to pound Cotto from the distance to get an easy win on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, USA.

Cotto fought a fighter with the same reach as Trout in his last fight in Cotto’s 12 round decision defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, Mayweather purposely chose to slug with Cotto so that he could make it an entertaining fight for boxing fans. Mayweather could have stayed on the outside and boxed Cotto’s ears off for 12 rounds had he wanted to but he chose to give up his reach and stand and trade with him for 12 rounds. Trout is going to be using his reach to his advantage in this fight to get an easy win.

Prediction: Cotto will get easily out-boxed by Trout

Image: Prediction: Cotto will get easily out-boxed by TroutBy Dan Ambrose: Boxing fans may see a large nail driven into the once promising boxing career of Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) by unbeaten and highly intelligence WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, USA.

Cotto, 31, has already lost his last fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr, but now I expect Cotto take a much more one-sided loss than he did last time, because Trout is bigger, his legs are working better, and he’s less concerned with trying to impress boxing fans the way that Mayweather Jr. was last May. Mayweather could have made it a very win over Cotto had he boxed him instead of standing right in front of him for 12 rounds.

Miguel Cotto- Our era’s true warrior

Image: Miguel Cotto- Our era’s true warriorBy Adam Iqbal: Miguel Cotto first came onto the scene as a power punching body snatcher, who a mike Tyson-esque about him, a come-forward, intelligent, strong and powerful puncher who always came back.

I still remember watching his fight with Ricardo Torres, where Miguel Cotto got badly hurt and looked like he was all but gone, but being the warrior he is, he came back and knocked him out, just like he has done many times in his career.

Miguel Cotto will no doubt go into the hall of fame one day having beaten many world champions such as Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Zab Judah, Ricardo Mayorga, Paulie Malignaggi, Carlos Quintana, Yuri Foreman, Joshua Clottey, Demarcus Corley and Randall Bailey.

Cotto sparring with Golovkin to get ready for Trout

Image: Cotto sparring with Golovkin to get ready for TroutBy Dan Ambrose: Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) is reportedly sparring with WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin among others at Big Bear Lake, in California to get ready for Cotto’s upcoming December 1st fight against WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, USA. Cotto, who turns 32 on October 29th, will be sparring with the hard hitting Golovkin in three separate sparring sessions with hope of being able to beat the 27-year-old Trout.

Golovkin is a much different fighter from the southpaw Trout, however, and it’s difficult to see how this sparring will help Cotto get ready for Trout, who is much more of a finesse fighter in comparison to Golovkin. The only similarities that Golovkin and Trout have is in height and their unbeaten records. Golovkin is faster, better defensively and a much bigger puncher than Trout.

Cotto vs. Trout: Old Age vs. youth

By Dan Ambrose: If you were to describe what the December 1st match-up between Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) and WBA World light middleweight Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) was all about you’d have to consider it an old age vs. youth type battle with the 27-year-old Trout representing the youth side of the fight. He’s a young 27, hasn’t been in any wars, and has been able to win most of his fights without taking much punishment.

Austin Trout hoping he and Cotto can be friends after he beats him

Image: Austin Trout hoping he and Cotto can be friends after he beats him(Photo credit: Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) is hoping that Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) won’t be harboring a grudge and that they can still possibly be friends after Trout whips Cotto on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York. For Trout, it’s not personal. It’s just his time and Cotto happens to be in the way. The old have to give way for the young, and Cotto is getting up there in age at nearly 32.

Trout said “I know this fight will be the changing of the guard…I still feel a little bad for him…I’ve been a Cotto fan and he’s had a great career…I hope they all know this…They’re going to watch him pass the torch.”

Cotto told Dan Rafael at ESPN “I’m here for the big names, for the real fights…I’m ready for anyone as long as it’s fair business. Mayweather, fine. Canelo? After this fight, we can sit with his promoter [Golden Boy Promotions] and we can figure something.”
