Trout: I’ve fought against fighters with Canelo’s style my whole life

Trout_KR6A1178(Photo Credit: Stephanie Trapp / SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) feels very at home fighting WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) this Saturday night because he’s fought a lot of guys with the same identical style throughout his whole life, so he knows what to expect from the 22-year-old Canelo.

Trout grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico and he’s fought lots of Mexican fighters with the Canelo style of fighting. Trout doesn’t believe that Canelo has fought too many guys with his style of fighting and that’s going to be the difference in this fight.

Canelo thinks he can adapt to Trout’s speed

Canelo_KR6A1471(Photo Credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: If you’ve watched WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarado (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) fight before you’ll have noticed that he’s not exactly the fastest fighter you’ll ever see, especially with his slow, flat-footed style of moving around the ring. He’s never going to be considered a mover like a young Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Pernell Whitaker.

This Saturday night, Canelo is facing by far his best opponent of his career in WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) on Showtime from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

This fight presents all kinds of problems for Canelo because he’s going to be facing a fighting style that he’s been largely shielded from by his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions. Whether intentional or not, Canelo has not been matched against fighters with good foot speed that can move around the ring.

Trout: Guerrero will give Mayweather a lot of problems

guerrero12By Allan Fox: WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout sees unbeaten WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. having great difficulties in trying to figure out a way to beat Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero on May 4th.

The reason being Trout sees Guerrero as being able to do a lot of different things in the ring and adapt when things aren’t working out well for him. He can fight on the inside, throw a lot of punches, rough Mayweather up, and fight well on the outside to take advantage of his long reach and southpaw stance.

Trout: Canelo’s style won’t give me problems

canelo211By Dan Ambrose: WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) isn’t worried about the flat-footed fighting style of his opponent WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) for their fight this Saturday night.

Trout is more concerned with the skills that the 22-year-old Canelo has than his plodding style of fighting because he understands completely the type of fighter Canelo is because he’s been in with his types many, many times in the past. It’s the Chavez Jr. style of fighting, and he knows how to defeat that style.
