Mosley: Mayweather was better than Broner at 23

mayweather5574567By Allan Fox: Shane Mosley feels that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was a better fighter at 23 compared to the Mayweather clone WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 23 KO’s), who is now 23 and is constantly being compared to Mayweather due to his similar fighting style.

Mosley said to the boxingchannel.com “Both are good fighters. Floyd was tremendous at 23. He was very fast, very smart. He was born in a boxing family.”

De La Hoya: Alvarado vs. Broner anybody?

alvarado33By Dan Ambrose: Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions posed a question to his twitter followers last night by asking them if anyone would be interested in seeing unbeaten WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) face the Top Rank promoted Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s).
De La Hoya said “Alvarado vs. Broner anybody?”

I’m sure De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions would jump at the chance to make that fight if Alvarado’s promoters at Top Rank were to say yes to the idea of that fight being made. However, Arum likely wouldn’t say yes to such a fight unless Golden Boy was to loan Broner to him for one fight, and ev even then it might not be possible.

Kellerman interested in seeing Crawford vs. Broner

crawford44By Chris Williams: HBO broadcaster Max Kellerman was dreaming out loud last night in watching Top Rank fighter lightweight/light welterweight Terrence Crawford (20-0, 15 KO’s) box his way to a 10 round unanimous decision over Breidis Prescott (26-5, 20 KO’s) by saying he’d like to see the 25-year-old Crawford face WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) in a fight. Roy Jones Jr. of HBO also liked the idea.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s ever going to be a possibility due to the Top Rank – Golden Boy Promotions rivalry.

Arum wants Broner vs. Crawford in winner take all bout

crawford332By Allan Fox: Bob Arum of Top Rank was quite pleased with his fighter lightweight Terrence Crawford’s 10 round unanimous decision victory over the hard hitting Colombian Breidis Prescott (26-5, 20 KO’s) last Saturday night on the Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado card at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Events Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Arum said he’d like to match Crawford against lightweight Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) if possible.

Arum said after the fight as quoted by Steve Kim “I want to do a winner take all, (Crawford) against Broner.”

Broner to Rios: We can fight; you won’t touch me

broner534By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) says he’s fed up of seeing former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) trash talking about him on videos, and he says if Rios wants to fight they can fight.

Broner doesn’t see the Golden Boy-Top Rank rivalry from getting in the way of the fight being made. Broner believes he can make it happen on his end with Golden Boy. The only question is could Rios do the same thing with his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Broner said to ARBeatGang: “Who is Brandon Rios. I keep seeing multiple videos of him cussing me out, calling me bi**** and s***. Wait. Quit playing that Golden Boy-Top Rank bulls*** because we can fight. All that talk about how I’m ‘too small’, you’re going to ‘knock me out.’ You won’t touch me. Easy money. I just robbed a bank.”

Broner: I hope Robert “Gotta gun” Guerrero will be ok

guerrero7777(Photo credit: Casino/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner, a close personal friend of Floyd Mayweather Jr., couldn’t help poking fun at the arrest of Mayweather’s next opponent Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, who earlier today was arrested for gun possession at the JFK airport in New York while preparing for a flight to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Broner, 23, said on his twitter: “Man, I really hope Robert “gotta gun” Guerrero [will] be OK. LOL.”

I imagine Guerrero will eventually be ok, but he’s got some serious charges hanging over his head as he prepares for his May 4th fight with Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guerrero was charged with illegally carrying with a firearm [pistol] in New York. That’s not all. Guerrero also had three, 15-round high capacity gun magazines with him in a case along with the pistol.

Broner: I’m going to abuse Paulette [Paulie] the Magic Chick

broner655By Dan Ambrose: WBO lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) doesn’t think too much of WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi’s skills or power, and he sees him as an easy victory when the two meet up on June 22nd on Showtime at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Broner, who still refers to himself as “Mr. HBO” despite the fact that his fights will be televised on Showtime now due to Golden Boy Promotions fighters being frozen out by HBO, said to ARBeatGang “I’ve got this fight coming up with Paulette. I call him Paulette the Magic Chick. He’s going to let me feel his power. What’s the f*** up in that sentence. Paulette, who you going to stop? Who gonna slap asleep? What you got, seven knockouts?

Rios: Broner’s trying to get me to lose focus on Alvarado

rios454By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) thinks WBC lightweight champion and soon to be WBA welterweight champ Adrien Broner is trying to get him to lose concentration for his rematch this Saturday night against Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23 KO’s) by trash talking about him in the media.

Rios said to the boxingchannel.com: “[He’s] talking s***, but the fights never going to happen because he’s with Golden Boy, and I’m with Top Rank. I think he’s trying to get me to lose focus on Mike Alvarado so he can say ‘I told you, Brandon ain’t s***; he can’t touch me.’”

Broner looking past Malignaggi; wants another title to grab

broner4By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) pretty much is already seeing his June 22nd fight against WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) as a victory already, and he now has his eyes on another title strap to add to his collection once he gets the 32-year-old Malignaggi out of the way.

Broner, 23, has already captured world titles in the super featherweight and lightweight divisions. A victory over Malignaggi will be the third weight division Broner has captured a title in, and it’s unclear if he wants to go after another welterweight title or perhaps a strap at 140 or 154.

Burns: I could fight Broner later on in the year

burns45222By Scott Gilfoid: WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) is still floating WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner’s name as a potential future opponent despite having turned down the fight three times in the past. Broner has been trying to get a fight with Burns for close to two years, but with no luck. Tired of wasting his time trying to get a fight against a reluctant Burns, Broner is moving up to welterweight to face WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi on June 22nd.

Burns said to Sky Sports “There’s still talk about this fight [Broner vs. Burns] fight happening. When I was speaking to Eddie he said his team has actually been in touch to see about it. Eddie’s said my next fight is definitely in Glasgow, but it’s [fight against Broner] a possibility for later on in the year.”
