Arum wants Broner vs. Crawford in winner take all bout

crawford332By Allan Fox: Bob Arum of Top Rank was quite pleased with his fighter lightweight Terrence Crawford’s 10 round unanimous decision victory over the hard hitting Colombian Breidis Prescott (26-5, 20 KO’s) last Saturday night on the Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado card at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Events Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Arum said he’d like to match Crawford against lightweight Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) if possible.

Arum said after the fight as quoted by Steve Kim “I want to do a winner take all, (Crawford) against Broner.”

This would be a win-win situation for Arum if Golden Boy Promotions, the promoter for Broner, were to say yes to the fight because Crawford isn’t well known, and the fight would get his name out there no matter what happened.

Crawford could run around the ring like he did last Saturday night against Prescott and stink up the joint, and it would still pay off for Arum because fans would get to know Crawford at least. And if Crawford, a pure counter puncher with little power, was able to cause Broner some problems or even beat him, it would really work out well for him.

I don’t think for a second that Crawford could beat Broner, even though he’s technically a bigger fighter than Broner. Crawford weighed 151 pounds for his fight against Prescott last Saturday, so he wouldn’t be giving away any size in a fight against Broner. What he’d be giving away is power. Broner is lot stronger and more solidly built with his upper body.

Broner is more of offensive fighter than Crawford and he takes more chances and sits down on his shots a lot more. Broner would walk Crawford down and force him into a lot more exchanges than Prescott did.

Prescott played into Crawford’s game by being too cautious and overly concerned about being countered by him, and it hurt him by Craward beating him by the scores of 97-93, 99-91, 100-90.
