By Allan Fox: WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) has accepted newly crowned WBA World 175 lb. champion Badou Jack’s challenge to fight him in a unification match. Stevenson, 39, wanted to fight a unification match against IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Andre “SOG” Ward, but there doesn’t appear to be any interest in making that fight from his side.
Stevenson says he wants Jack’s WBA title to add to his collection.

Badou Jack calls out Adonis Stevenson after beating Cleverly
By Sean Jones: Moments after stopping a WBA World light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (30-4, 16 KOs) in the 5th round last Saturday night, Badou “The Ripper” Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs) called WBC 175 lb. champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) for a unification fight. With his impressive win over Cleverly, Badou Jack stole the show from the main event fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.
Will we get a big fight for Adonis Stevenson?
By Gav Duthie: We are going round in circles in watching the career of the brilliant but stagnant Adonis Stevenson. The big punching Canadian destroyed Andrezj Fonfara in 2 rounds a few Saturdays ago in a senseless rematch that nobody needed to see. Stevenson is 39 years old and we are currently seeing him once a year against average opposition.
Andre Ward’s options for next fight
By Jeff Aranow: Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KOs) successfully defended his IBF, WBA and WBO light heavyweight titles last Saturday night in stopping Sergey Kovalev (30-2-1, 26 KOs) with a perfectly placed low blow in the 8th round at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ward is now kicking around the idea of fighting at cruiserweight or heavyweight for his next fight.
Andre Ward considering Adonis Stevenson fight
By Jeff Aranow: Following his low blow stoppage win over Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev last Saturday night, Andre “SOG” Ward says he’s considering a unification fight against WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson, as well as a move to cruiserweight or heavyweight. Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) is a southpaw with one-punch power that he uses to knockout his mostly marginal opposition. Ultimately, I see Ward staying FAR away from Adonis Stevenson simply because he’s too dangerous to fight. Stevenson would be a threat to knocking Ward out every second he’s in there with him, and I believe instinctively, Ward knows this. Ward selected Kovalev to fight after studying him and realizing he would have a chance of beating him. I believe it’s no coincidence that Ward didn’t select Stevenson to fight when he moved up to 175.
Weekend Wrap–“Superman” Returns
By Donavan Leonard: WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs), reminded challenger Andrzej Fonfara (29-5, 17 KOs) of two time-tested adages. “Don’t tug on Superman’s cape”, and “Be careful what you wish for..you might get it”.
Pound-4-Pound Paper Champions
By Earl E: There are countless writings published of people’s opinions on the pound-for-pound best boxers in the sport today. Instead, I give you the best pound-for-pound paper champions that presently the sport has to offer. What we expect from great boxers, such as toughness, perseverance, and challenging themselves against the best boxers, these boxers have none or want no part of. These boxers are the total opposite, they are tough nor are they willing to challenge themselves against the very best. First to the podium:
Adonis Stevenson: ‘Superman’ or ‘The Forgotten Man’?
By Adam Godfrey: Like many, I was slightly baffled by the announcement that Adonis Stevenson would be granting Andrzej Fonfara a light-heavyweight re-match, which took place on the 4th June 2017 in Montreal, Canada. The clamor for the two to lock horns for a second time was non-existent, not helped by the vicious beating dished out to the Pole by Joe Smith Jr. last June.
Stevenson chooses NOT to call out Ward-Kovalev winner
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mdd6_XSH0A
By Jeff Aranow: Light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson took an odd approach last Saturday night after annihilating Andrzej Fonfara in the 2nd round in their rematch by choosing NOT to call out the winner of the Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev II fight. It was odd because it the logical thing for the 39-year-old Stevenson to do, especially given how one-sided his fight was with Fonfara. You have to remember; this wasn’t a fight that the boxing public was clamoring for.
