Thoughts on GGG

1-GolovkinLemieux_Hoganphotos1By Reveriano: Last Saturday night’s Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux fight was a real bargain in my opinion. For $50 dollars you were able to watch some great action packed fights. But the dust has settled and it is time for us so called commentators to give our opinion. My opinion being that this was a great fight that shows some of the serious problems in the industry.

I would like to first state that I find it incredible that some people are arguing or stating that the fight was boring. That Golovkin didn’t come out to fight and under-performed. I find this incredible because Golovkin showed that defensive styles are not the only way to control and box an opponent out.

Golovkin will not be the King part II

1-GolovkinLemieuxWeighIn_Hoganphotos2By Reveriano: I recently wrote an article arguing that IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) will not be the PPV King. That in fact that title will belong to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Predictably, I took some very heavy flak. Some of it valid and some of it making no sense. But due to the fact that I have plenty of free time due to the success of my businesses and apparently I have nothing else to do. I have taken the opportunity to respond.

Golovkin will not be the King

1-golovkin (7)By Reveriano: I would like to begin this piece by reminding the viewer that I was a fan of IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) before it was popular to be a fan. I argued a few weeks ago that the only opponent that Floyd Mayweather Jr could choose for his last fight would persuade me to pay would be GGG. I would also like to state that I am extremely excited about this upcoming match.

I think it will be extremely entertaining and fun to watch. But at no point am I convinced, under the illusion, or believe that GGG will be the next PPV King.

Golovkin vs. Mayweather: The only fight worth watching

golovkin55555 By Reveriano: The biggest complaint about Boxing today is that it is no longer a viable sport. Long-term boxing fans, new fans, promoters, and even boxers themselves all agree that boxing is all business. Meaning that fighters (performers) only focus is to maximize their revenue throughout their career. Leaving us the viewer/payer with only one option.

Boxers such as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto have clearly stated that their health and career is the biggest concern for them. That they do not care about what the fan wants to see.

Mayweather-Pacquiao: The Great Show

Image: Mayweather-Pacquiao: The Great ShowBy Reveriano: The Boxing Establishment new campaign is magnificently simple. It is basically that the so-called “Fight of the Century” has come and has passed. It had all the potential to live up to its huge price tag but unfortunately Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a boxing genius that is to skilled and Manny Pacquiao gave it his best shot and was injured. It is time for everyone to move on and buy the next great and competitive match on PPV.

This is perhaps the biggest piece of excrement from a large horned animal since the allegation that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons. Let’s be honest this was all a great show meant for everyone involved to cash out. And I will rationally prove and show you guys. (Disclosure: I did not pay to watch two aging fighters).
