Is Canelo ducking Golovkin?

canelo5666By Nick Hagen: The 11th of December was the extended cutoff date that the WBC put in place last week for Alvarez and Golovkin to come to an agreement for a fight next year. As of yet we have heard nothing from either camp to suggest that negotiations have even started taking place.

The majority of Boxing fans are desperate for this fight to happen to find out who the real champion is within the 160lbs middleweight division. This means you can weigh up to and including 160lbs when fighting for the WBC, IBO, WBA and IBF belts etc. Please correct me if I’m wrong here.

For The Sake Of Boxing Pacquiao Needs To Win on May 2nd

pac836By Nick Hagan: It’s now less than a week away from arguably the most anticipated Boxing event since Muhammad Ali V George Foreman In 1974. Floyd Mayweather Jr. v Manny Pacquiao is six years in the making and my own personal observation is that this makes for a more competitive, closer fight than If It had happened in 2009. This opinion may not be shared by all fans, however it’s very evident that Mayweather based on his recent bouts with Marcos Maidana has lost some footwork speed and is no longer so elusive.

Pacquiao lost to Marquez in 2012 by a brutal knockout, but under the guidance of Freddie Roach, has since substantially Improved his defense in his recent bouts against Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri. I do agree that Pacquiao has slightly slipped in terms of aggression, but his speed, power, unorthodox style and new found defense are all still very much Intact. For the reasons stated above it has now become a 50:50 fight.

Some “Home Truths” About the Five Biggest Boxing Stars of Our Generation

floyd11233By Nick Hagan: Never before has so many articles been written about Boxers from the past and present. Social Media and the Internet have enabled easy access to some great reads and opinions on the Sport that I enjoy immensely.

I’m a regular reader of the many articles published on “Boxing News 24” and find it interesting how people’s views differ so widely, in respect to the Boxers of today. I have read articles on this website for instance where writers make predictions on fight outcomes and make “fantasy” fights by pitching their favourite Boxers of today against Boxers from the past and state what they feel would have happened and so on.
