Brian Norman Jr. and Devin Haney are reportedly in talks for a potential fight in Saudi Arabia later this year. If the agreement is finalized, Haney will attempt to become a three-division world champion against arguably the number one fighter in the welterweight division, Norman Jr.

Haney-Norman Jr. Fight Talks
Bill Haney has been vocal on social media lately, calling out Norman Jr., telling him he’s looking for him. The timing of Bill coming out of the woodwork looked to some fans initially as clout-chasing to take advantage of WBO welterweight champion Norman Jr’s highlight reel fifth-round knockout of challenger Jin Sasaki on June 19th in Tokyo, Japan.
Thaboxingvoice reports Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) was offered a fight against Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) in Saudi Arabia. Lance Pugmire @pugboxing reported today that the two have verbally agreed to a fight in November.
If the Saudis are going to be involved in this fight, it makes sense for Haney to take it, because he doesn’t have any options for money fights that would pay him the large purse he received last May against Jose Ramirez at Times Square in New York City.
The plans for a rematch with Ryan Garcia went down the drain with his loss to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on that card. Teofimo Lopez changed his mind about wanting to fight Haney. Brian Norman Jr. may be as good as it gets for Haney.
Norman Jr. Dangerous Opponent
It’s a weird move by Haney and Bill if they go through with this fight because Norman Jr. packs significant power in both hands. He’s kryptonite for pure boxers with weak chins like Haney’s. There’s no amount of movement that Devin could use to prevent Norman Jr. from eventually getting to him to knock him out.
Fans who aren’t familiar with the 24-year-old Norman Jr. believe that Haney is taking advantage of a younger, less experienced fighter who has yet to fight anyone notable during his seven-year professional career. For people who have watched Norman Jr’s last three fights, they know that he’s legit and not a good fit for Devin.
