Devin Haney has offered to face Shakur Stevenson at 145 pounds in December, lowering his proposed weight by two pounds while keeping his demand for no rehydration clause in a post on social media.
“Let’s do this 145 no rehydration clause @ShakurStevenson .. let’s see who’s the real pussy! December.. 2026.
Somebody go wake Shakur up.. Tell him we got a deal,” Haney said on X.
The proposal moves Haney off the position he posted on October 4: “147.. no rehydration let’s get it done.” He is now offering to come below the welterweight limit, although the freedom to add weight afterward remains part of his terms.
That is a concession, but it only addresses part of the disagreement. Shakur would get a lower contracted weight without a limit on how much Haney could regain before entering the ring. If his concern is the size of the fighter facing him on the night, 145 pounds doesn’t settle that.
Haney would have to make the extra effort to lose those two pounds. Once the weight check is over, however, he could replenish without a contractual cap. The proposal could still leave Shakur facing a considerably heavier opponent.
From Haney’s side, this gives him something to point to when arguing that he is trying to make the fight. He has lowered his demand and named December as the month he wants. Shakur now has a specific offer to answer, rather than another challenge with no weight attached.
The December date adds urgency if both intend to fight this year. They would need to settle the remaining terms soon enough to arrange the event and prepare properly. A public callout can start that process, but it cannot substitute for their teams reaching a deal.
Haney is giving ground on the contracted weight while holding firm on rehydration. Whether that is enough depends on which concession Shakur wants most. If a cap on Haney’s weight gain remains a requirement, they could still be stuck despite moving closer on the official limit.
