Shakur Stevenson Accepts Devin Haney’s 145-Pound Offer

By Boxing News 24 Desk - 10/07/2026 - Comments

Shakur Stevenson has publicly accepted Devin Haney’s proposed 145-pound catchweight, moving their fight discussions forward after previously pushing for 144. The remaining question is whether Shakur has also dropped his request for a 10-pound rehydration limit.

“145.0 U GOT A DEAL DEEHOE!!!!” Shakur posted on X.

Haney quoted the post and responded: “Crown me #1 P4P after this InshaAllah.”

That exchange gives the negotiations something they previously lacked: both fighters publicly agreeing to the same contracted weight. It does not explain what happens after the official weigh-in, which has been another point of disagreement.

Haney’s earlier offer was 145 pounds with no rehydration clause for a December fight. Shakur had sought two restrictions: a catchweight below the 147-pound welterweight limit and a cap on how much weight Haney could regain afterward.

Shakur’s latest message addresses the first condition. He does not mention the second.

If Shakur is accepting Haney’s proposal in full, he would be conceding more than the extra pound. Haney could replenish without the 10-pound restriction Shakur had wanted, potentially giving him a larger size advantage when they enter the ring.

That was the reason behind Shakur’s earlier insistence on a cap. Coming up from 140 pounds, he wanted some control over the size of the opponent he would actually face. A 145-pound agreement alone would not provide that protection.

Haney’s pound-for-pound declaration also raises expectations for his own performance. He is already talking about the reward for beating Shakur, giving his rival another line to revisit if the fight happens and Haney falls short.

The next useful clarification needs to concern the rehydration terms. If that restriction has been removed, the teams have cleared an obstacle that went beyond their one-pound disagreement.

Until those details emerge, this is progress toward a fight, with Shakur accepting 145 and Haney welcoming the response. Neither supplied post announces a signed contract or confirms a date.
