Ryan Garcia Doubles Down: Haney Fight on April 20, Gervonta Rematch on His Terms

Ryan Garcia says he’s made up his mind that he’ll fight Devin Haney on April 20th. He says, “I’m not changing my mind” anymore about taking that fight.

Commitment Confirmed For Haney

“Yeah, I’m not changing my mind no more. 4/20,” Ryan Garcia said on the PBD YouTube channel about his decision to fight Devin Haney on April 20th on DAZN.

It’s easier said than done, Ryan talking about making the fight with Haney. With the way that Haney is carrying himself, believing he’s a star from his wins over Regis Prograis, Vasily Lomachenko, and George Kambosos, he could insist on being the A-side in the negotiations with Ryan, even though he’s not a draw.

Those wins for Haney have failed to increase his popularity with the casual and hardcore boxing fans.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) feels that he needs a win over WBC light welterweight champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and other top fighters to build interest for a rematch with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. That’s the main target that the 25-year-old Ryan is aiming for.

Beating Haney will be difficult because he has better skills and a massive size advantage. Without a rehydration clause to prevent Haney from shooting up to 165 or 170, Ryan is going to have problems on April 20th.

Burning Desire for Davis Rematch

“I’m going to beat this guy, this guy, and this guy. I’m going to get so big that Gervonta has to fight me, and we’re going to do it on the right and fair terms,” said Ryan Garcia about his wanting a rematch with Gervonta Davis to avenge his loss.

“I’m going to beat him, and we’re going to solidify that, and it’s going to be all done. We’re going to do it at the right weight and the right terms. It’s going to be fair. Even though he did me dirty and they’d did all these tricks, I’m going to do it fair and without a rehydration clause in the next go around.

“I’m not going to do it crazy and go up in weight. We can do it at 140 or 147 or whatever he wants, and then we’re going to do it fairly. No rehydration clause, but you’re never going to play me again.

“I’m coming back in everything. I’m coming back in blood,” said Ryan Garcia about his desire to get revenge against Tank Davis.
