Boxing Results: Conor Benn Defeats Peter Dobson!

In the Main Event unbeaten Conor ‘The Destroyer’ Benn defeated Peter Dobson by a 12 round unanimous decision, who was coming off 20 months of inactivity on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

In the co-feature, IBF North American Middleweight champion Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams stopped Armel ‘Kingenforme’ Mbumba-Yassa in seven rounds.

In the main event, welter Conor ‘The Destroyer’ Benn, 23-0 (14), defeated former USBA Silver Welter champ Peter “Pistol Pete” Dobson, 16-1 (9), over 12 solid rounds.

In the first round, Benn had Dobson on the defense the entire round, mostly with rights on the chin. In the second round, Benn continued with the attack. Inside the final minute, Benn rocked Dobson with a right on the chin.

In the third round, Benn kept up outlanding Dobson until the final seconds when Dobson landed his best punch of the fight, a right to the head of Benn.

In the fourth round, Benn continued on the offense. With a minute remaining, Dobson landed a right on the chin of Benn. Benn remained in control for the rest of the round.

At the fifth round’s halfway point, Dobson took over, getting the best of an action round. Dobson’s right on the chin of Benn gave him his first winning round.

In the sixth round it was competitive with a minute remaining Benn landed several chopping rights to the chin of Dobson. In the final twenty seconds, Referee Thomas Taylor warned Benn for using his Benn twice.

In the eighth round Benn controlled the action with little coming back from Dobson for the most part. In the ninth round Benn outworked Dobson until the final seconds when Dobson landed a double left hook to the chin of Benn.

In the tenth round, Benn resumed control of the fight. In the eleventh round Benn countered Dobson throughout taking another round.

In the twelfth and final round, after a minute, Benn rocked Dobson with a right on the chin. Halfway through the round, it was Dobson rocking Benn with a right on the chin. It was a good close

round with Dobson possibly taking it.

Scores were 119-109, 118-110 twice, and 117-111 KH.

In the co-feature world ranked WBA International and IBF North American Middle champ southpaw Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams, 16-0 (11), knocked out late sub on a week’s notice Armel ‘Kingennforme’ Mbumba-Yassa, 10-1 (7) at 2:52 of the seventh round of a scheduled ten rounds.

In the first round the southpaw Williams gave Mbumba-Yassa a boxing lesson with his jab landing throughout the round. In the second through the fourth rounds Williams moved around the ring picking his shots taking all four rounds. Mubumba-Yassa can’t cut off the ring.

In the fifth round Mubumba-Yassa landed his first solid punch a right on the chin of Williams a little over a minute into the round. In the final half minute of the round Williams landed half a dozen unanswered punches to the chin of Mubumba-Yassa.

In the sixth round’s first minute, a right hook from Williams to the body hurt Mubumba-Yassa, followed by half a dozen punches, and down he went for an 8-count from Referee Harvey Dock. In the final seconds, Williams had Mubumba-Yassa defenseless at the bell with a flurry of punches.

In the seventh round, little was happening until the final twenty seconds when a right jab from Williams was blocked by Mubumba-Yassa, but a left from Williams followed on the chin, driving Mubumba-Yassa to the canvas under the ropes as referee Dock called a halt.

Light Heavy Khalil Coe, 8-0-1 (6), stopped Juan ‘Teo’ Gerardo Osuna, 20-1 (18), at 1:14 of the second round of a scheduled eight rounds, scoring three knockdowns.

In the second round, Coe landed a right to the body thirty seconds into the round, dropping Osuna for an 8-count from Referee Allen Huggins. Seconds later, another right to the body from Coe and down went Osuna for another 8-count from referee Huggins.

Seconds later, there was another right to the body for an automatic stoppage, a third knockdown by referee Huggins.

Heavy ‘The Romford Bull’ Johnny Fisher, 11-0 (10), stopped Dmytro Bezus, 10-2 (5) at 2:51 of the first round of a scheduled eight rounds.

In the first rounds final minute Fisher who had been having his way for the entire round landed a dozen unanswered punches to the head of Bezus before Referee Robert Hoyle wisely called a halt.

Four-time National Amateur champion Middle “The Billericay Bomber” George Liddard, 6-0 (3), defeated Andrew “The Cannon” Buchanan, 3-1-1 (2) over six rounds in Liddard’s US debut.

In the first round LIddard landed numerous rights to the body and several to the chin of Buchanan in taking the round. In the second round near the end of the first minute a right from Liddard on the chin of Buchanan drove him back several steps.

In the third and fourth rounds, Liddard continued outlanding Buchanan with good body work and occasional rights to the chin.

Liddard had a mark under his right eye from a right from Buchanan. In the sixth and final round, Liddard continued out, landing a game Buchanan.

The referee was Robert Hoyle. The scores were 60-54 and by KH.

Four-time National amateur champion Middle Jimmy Sains, 3-0 (3), stopped Alejandro Avalos, 1-3 (0), at 2:47 of the first round of a scheduled four rounds.

In the first round final minute, Sains landed a right on the side of the head of Avalos, and down he went for an 8-count from Referee Allen Huggins. Upon rising, Sains went right after Avalos, landing a right on the chin, and down went Sains without a count, out cold.
