Ryan Garcia Back in Haney Talks: “The People Voted, He Will Be Destroyed”

Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) revealed today that he is back in negotiations to fight WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

After striking out with his attempts at fighting Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero for his WBA light welterweight title, Ryan Garcia has turned his attention back towards facing Haney. This should make Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn happy because this is the fight he wanted for Devin.

“I don’t want to say anything before it’s signed, but we are back in talks. Devin will be destroyed, and his dad’s [Bill Haney] going to help him up,” Ryan Garcia told FightHype.

“I had a poll of who I should fight next between Rolando Romero and Devin Haney. The poll was close, but ultimately Devin Haney won,” Ryan continued. “So, I wanted to give everybody that fight because the people voted, and you should get what you voted for.”

What Ryan, 25, isn’t saying is Rolly secretly negotiated behind his back for a fight against Isaac Cruz on March 30th on Amazon Prime PPV and then left him looking silly by walking away from the talks.

Will The Fight Happen?

“I can fight anybody. They need me, but I also need them. Ultimately, I’m the more driving force, but they’ve got boxing fans. I’m a more well-known person [due to social media],” said Ryan.

It’s questionable whether Ryan Garcia will get through negotiations with Haney to make their fight happen because his Kingry is viewed as a flake, someone who changes his mind constantly and is difficult to deal with.

“Rolly took offense to that and became dumb and decided to go into negotiations with [Isaac] Cruz and act like he’s in negotiations with me to use my name, sweep it under the rug, and go and fight Cruz,” said Ryan. “They both used my name to build their fight off.

“If I’m Rolly. Why would I get beat up on a co-main event [on Amazon Prime PPV on March 30th] when I could have been the main event and get clipped by a guy that you would actually got knocked out by Ryan.

“Now, if you get knocked out, you get knocked out for significantly less [money]. I don’t even know if he’s going to make a million dollars for this fight,” said Ryan about Rolly.
