Trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre says his fighter lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis is loving his opportunity to fight former two-division world champion Jose ‘Sniper’ Pedraza during Super Bowl week on ESPN for their co-feature clash on February 8th at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas.
BoMac feels that the 34-year-old Pedraza (29-5-1, 14 KOs) is the ideal opponent for the 2020 U.S Olympian Keyshawn (9-0, 6 KOs) to use as a springboard for a world title shot for one of the belts at lightweight.
McIntyre didn’t say which title Keyshawn will be targeting, but it’s believed it won’t be the WBA, WBC, or IBF because he would have to deal with Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta Davis & likely Vasily Lomachenko to win those.
Considering how Keyshawn came close to losing his last fight against little-known fringe contender Nahir Albright, it’s best he avoid talented opposition.
BoMac: Keyshawn Will Adapt Quickly
“First and foremost, I know that Keyshawn is just loving the opportunity so he can shine. I know he’s loving it,” said trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre to Fighthype, talking about lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis’ co-feature bout against 34-year-old Jose ‘Sniper’ Pedraza on February 8th in Las Vegas.
“Second, camp is going great. He’s [Keyshawn] is working his a** off. That’s one thing about it. He’s studying his craft. He’s over there just looking at his sparring session.
“How I see the [Davis vs. Pedraza] fight going. It’s going to be a little tough for Keyshawn to adapt to his style, and then once he adapts to his style, he’s going to run away with it,” said BoMac.
McIntyre Predicts Keyshawn Stoppage Victory
“I’m looking for the stoppage, but we’re training for twelve rounds. We’re in shape to go 15,” said BoMac, predicting a knockout victory for Keyshawn over the former two-division world champion Pedraza.
“I got my fingers crossed, and I hope we will, and a win over Pedraza, they got to start talking about him as a title contender, somebody that just wants to go get one of those titles. We got it on our radar; that’s what we’re talking about, and that’s what we’re working for.
“So, we got our fingers crossed. After he comes out with this spectacular performance, we should be right there,” said BoMac about his belief that Keyshawn will be in a position to challenge for one of the four 135-lb titles after he defeats the veteran Pedraza.
