Anthony Joshua, the ex-heavyweight champ and king of the ring, has been tossing around compliments like confetti at his new gym pals over at Ben Davison’s sweat factory in Harlow, Essex.

This British pugilist is headlining a night in Riyadh that’s jam-packed with boxing royalty, live on DAZN PPV. Think of it like a who’s who of fist-flinging – with Dmitry Bivol, Jai Opetaia, and a whole squad of Matchroom fighters.

Joshua, a two-time heavyweight world champ (26-3, 23 KOs), isn’t new to the Saudi scene. He’s been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Remember when he got his belts back from Andy Ruiz Jr at the Diriyah Arena in 2019? Or that nail-biter with Oleksandr Usyk at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Arena in 2022?

For this upcoming royal rumble, Joshua’s been sharpening his skills under the eagle eye of Davison. He’s training with the crème de la crème, like former WBA Featherweight World Champion Leigh Wood and the rising star Pat McCormack. Joshua, at a sprightly 34, is digging the vibe at the new gym.

He’s been chatty with Matchroom Boxing, saying he’s all about respect in the gym. No strutting around like he owns the place. It’s all about sharing the love and pushing each other to the limits. He’s even buddying up with Jeamie TKV for crunches and Leigh Wood for circuits.

Joshua’s psyched about being in training camp early. He jumped at the fight with Wallin, even though it was a last-minute deal, seven weeks out. Talk about seizing the day!

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are playing a game of “you’re in my space, but not in my ring.” They’re both headlining a mammoth fight card in Riyadh, but not as opponents.

Joshua is set to trade fists with Otto Wallin, aiming to notch his third victory lap of the year. He’s already sent Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius packing. Wilder, the 38-year-old force of nature, is shaking off the dust after a 14-month hiatus. Last time we saw him in action, in October 2022, he bulldozed Helenius in the first round, making Joshua’s six-round saga look like a slow waltz.

The buzz around the boxing world is that Joshua and Wilder might finally tango in 2024. But before that dream fight becomes a reality, they’ve got to come out on top in Riyadh. It’s not just them; the ring will be graced by the likes of Daniel Dubois, Dmitry Bivol, Filip Hrgovic, and more. It’s like the who’s who of the boxing world decided to have a party in the desert!

Riyadh Season, in its fourth edition, is a grand circus of entertainment. From concerts to exhibitions, it’s drawing crowds worldwide. Celebs and big-name brands are all part of the spectacle, making Riyadh the place to be this winter.
