Dubois on Usyk: “We’ve got to take his legs away & break his body up”

By Robert Segal: Underdog Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) says he’s going to attack the body of IBF, WBA & WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) to wear him down and then score a knockout next Saturday night on August 26th at the Stadion Wroclaw, in Wroclaw, Poland.

Dubois must win this fight, as he already lost to Joe Joyce, and he arguably should have been beaten in his last fight against Kevin Lerena if not for the referee giving him a massive amount of slack in watching him get dropped three times without stopping the contest.

Surprisingly, many boxing fans are starting to believe that Dubois, 25, can get the job done to pull off the upset against the older, smaller & weaker 36-year-old Usyk.

Either fans haven’t been paying attention to the recent fights between the two fighters, or they could be falling for the heavy praise that is poured over the head of Dubois from Youtube channels like TNT Sports.

What’s clear is Dubois will need to make a tremendous amount of improvement from his last fight against Lerena because the fighter that we saw in that contest stands no chance against Usyk.

Usyk’s movement, technical skills, and overall ability give him a tremendous advantage over the slow-moving Dubois, who doesn’t look cut out to be fighting against elite-level fighters in the division.

Dubois to attack Usyk’s body

“Just feeling good, feeling up for it, feeling lean and ready to go,” said Dubois to TNT Sports. “We’ve been putting in the work. We’ve been in the mountains in Spain, getting that graft. So, yes, ready to go now.

“I’ve got that power that I needed, that lean dead strength as well. It’s now the time to just go and then perform. No nerves. It’s just time to go out and put everything that I’ve been working on to the test, put it all on the line.

“This is the moment that every heavyweight in this division is working towards these belts. So it’s my time now, and I need to take it in both hands.

“We’ve got to have to take his legs away from him and break his body up. That’s what I’m all about. Respect, yeah. I trained hard for him; that’s the respect he’s getting.

“I worked hard for him, I suffered in camp for him, and now let’s go in and have a good fight. Do it for the family. All good. Yeah, let them go, let them shout, let them scream.

“They can’t fight for him. Where few are gathered, the presence of God is there,” said Dubois when told that 40,000 of Usyk’s Ukrainian fans are expected to be in attendance next Saturday, August 26th, at the Stadion Wroclaw.
