Deontay Wilder to Andy Ruiz Jr: “Put that pen to that paper, sign that contract”

By Dan Ambrose: Deontay Wilder posted a rebuttal to Andy Ruiz Jr’s earlier message today, telling the former champ to sign the contract offer that he’s made to him.

Earlier today, an out-of-breath Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) posted a message to Wilder while working out on a treadmill, imploring him to “be reasonable” to give him to purse split that he wants for the fight.

The former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) wants Ruiz to agree to his offer, and if not, stop sending videos to him. Ruiz is in a tough position right now, having run out of options for fights.

It’s unclear whether Showtime or Fox is interested in Ruiz continuing to take tune-up-level opposition on PPV, as his last two contests against Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz weren’t well received by fans.

If Ruiz doesn’t agree to the Wilder offer, Showtime will likely want a quality opponent because it’s not going to work if he faces another 40+-year-old on PPV.

Wilder wants Ruiz to sign contract

“Hey Andy, we don’t got to keep doing all this back & forth. You know that, right? I think you are stalling a little bit or something,” said Deontay Wilder on social media to Andy Ruiz Jr.

“Put that pen to that paper, sign that contract. That’s all you got to do, nothing else. Ain’t no need to go back & forth, doing all this talking on this social media. I’m about business, and I want action to happen,” Deontay Wilder.

Will Ruiz agree to the deal Wilder has offered? It’s said to be 30%, and while that may seem far from what Ruiz wants if he wins, he could face Anthony Joshua in December in Saudi Arabia.

Wilder is offering Ruiz a golden ticket that could get him the fight he’s been pining waay for since his loss to AJ in December 2019. Ruiz is not in a position where he can call the shots with Wilder, as he’s belt-less and has fought just twice since 2020.

The faster you sign that paper, the quicker I can give you that knockout, bro. I don’t even believe nothing you saying. Look at all them glitches in your videos. You edited that mother f**ker like a mug.

“This is for sure for you, right? I see, and they ain’t about the games. Hey, you said it ain’t about the money. So sign the contract, big boy so I can whoop you a**, man. I ain’t playing with you. I can’t wait,” said Wilder.

In Ruiz’s video earlier today, he said that it wasn’t about the money, which was some kind of double talk. It clearly is about the money, and that’s why Ruiz is pushing for a 50-50 deal.

Ruiz recently wanted $20 million for a fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury and lost out on that match-up.

The Gypsy King walked away from the negotiations and signed a deal to fight Francis Ngannou on October 28th. That could have been Ruiz’s fight if he didn’t get so greedy.

Deontay doubts Ruiz will sign

“Sign the contract, and we get the fight done and over with. You know I don’t get paid for overtime, right?” said Wilder to Ruiz. “So while you sitting up there on that treadmill, you got to do more than that. Every video of you is on that treadmill.

“You need to do more than that. While you working out so hard in that sweaty gym on that treadmill, I’m out in Atlanta eating a nice little gourmet meal,” said Deontay while greedily swallowing what looked to be buttered shrimp.

Ruiz is trying to take the weight off in a hurry to be ready for September, and that seems clear that he’s going to agree eventually to the deal Wilder has on the table.

The real question is, where is Ruiz’s promoter? Why isn’t he doing all the hard work to line up the fight with Deontay?

“You don’t think he’s going to sign the contract? I don’t believe too. So you even got little kids believing you scared, bro,” said Wilder about his little nephew, who says he doesn’t think Ruiz will sign the contract to fight him.

“What you going to do? Hey, let’s make it happen. Stop sending all these videos to me. I don’t want it no more,” said Wilder.
