Andy Ruiz latest call out of Deontay Wilder: “I’m not scared”

By Craig Daly: Andy Ruiz Jr isn’t giving up in his attempts to land a fight against Deontay Wilder for the fall, as he made yet another call out today on social media, seemingly begging him to agree so they can tell Al Haymon of PBC to “cut the check.

It’s unclear if the 33-year-old Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) is dead broke, having spent his entire $10 million fortune, as some boxing fans on social media suspect. If so, that would explain why the sudden burst of energy from Ruiz to finally get back in the ring after taking a year layoff since his last fight against 43-year-old Luis Ortiz a year ago.

Ruiz hasn’t said what kind of money he’s looking for to fight Wilder, but if it’s anything close to the $20 million that he reportedly recently asked for to fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, that’s not going to happen.

Andy is no longer the IBF, WBA & WBO champion, so he’s deluded if he thinks he can command the price that h would have back in 2019. Ruiz threw it all away by not training hard, keeping his weight down, and staying active.

Now, it’s a bit late in the game for Ruiz to suddenly get inspired, wanting to make up for lost time after throwing away the last four years of his career.

What’s you mean? I’m scared. I’m not scared of nobody. You want to talk about money, about respect, and you’re going to blow my brains out. Let’s make this happen,” said a desperate-sounding Andy Ruiz Jr on social media, pleading with Deontay Wilder to fight him.

“I’m trying to humble your a** down. Let’s just be fair, bro; let’s be reasonable. Let’s tell Al Haymon to cut the check, and let’s show everybody what we’re about. I’m here to win, baby. It’s not about the money. I’m here to win and become champion again,” said Ruiz.

Ruiz had an opportunity to capitalize on his upset win over Anthony Joshua in 2019 by staying busy, fighting the top dogs like Wilder & Tyson Fury, but he’s been off the grid for the most part, wallowing in luxury, enjoying mega-millions that he made from his two fights with AJ.

The popularity that Ruiz had after his victory over Joshua is now gone, and he is seen as just a regular fringe-level contender by the average fan, who has no idea who he is.

The hardcore boxing fans that do know of Ruiz see him as a waste, a one-hit wonder who got lazy, didn’t stay active with his career, and is just looking for a big payday he doesn’t deserve.
